The Bloody Consort (Beyond Botana RPG) . -and so soon after the last! That's right, Halloween has come early for the Beyond Botana RPG! This time we've an even more frightening character to contend with- the mystical and ancient Consort of the Goddess Ihanne! Can the heroes stand up to this bestial foe? . "The drums slammed and the voice croaked away; the rising Consort bleated in delight, for today he would shed blood again!" -Narrator, Beyond Botana RPG (Chapter 8: the Iron Citadel) The Bloody Consort: The Bloody Consort is a ram-headed figure of ceremony in Hyrvic and the Iron Citadel. Every year, a young Elysian male is ‘married’ to the Goddess Ihanne, whereupon he is transformed into the Consort; at the year’s end, the Consort is sacrificed to bring good luck to the city. Once the Elysian is transformed, he gains tremendous strength and agility; his blood gains a magical quality, which when shed can be used both in combat and in sorcery. The original Consort, an Elysian named Poulis, was the lover of Ihanne when she was still a mortal; any record of their history together was either lost or never obtained. When she became a Goddess, Ihanne wished to immortalise her husband also, so that they could remain together forever. Using ancient and taboo sorceries, she sacrificed her husband and boiled his body in a cauldron filled with ram blood; as a result, Poulis was resurrected as a gargantuan ware-ram, one that would forever be reincarnated upon death; this way, Ihanne would forever be with Poulis, even if only by proxy through his reincarnations. This tradition of resurrecting the Consort began in Hyrvic, where followers of Ihanne would select the prettiest boy in the town to be sacrificed; none of the victims ever resisted, as being chosen was a great honour. Once his body was boiled with the ram blood, the corpse would resurrect as the Consort, who would then lead all the year’s religious ceremonies; every day, the Consort whipped himself in devotion to blessed Ihanne. At Winter Solstice, the Consort would be sacrificed in the streets, his blood offered to Ihanne for good fortune; as the new year began, another boy would be transformed and the cycle began anew. The ceremony was eventually banned in Hyrvic by Beatrix the Unwomanly, who preferred worship of the Goddess Vesi’nainen. However, the tradition was later revived in the Iron Citadel by Konttori, the Holy Oracle; she took a young boy named Zagreus, far less willing in this case, to be transformed into the Consort. This resurrection drew the attention of Ihanne, a Fragment of her soul rushing to her new husband; however, the Fragment was intercepted by Konttori, who absorbed it and became a Demigod. With Ihanne trapped and the Consort at her disposal, immortal Konttori fastened her iron grip on the Citadel. Shortly before the year was out, Konttori engaged in battle with a band of heroic Agori and was defeated. The Fragment was released, reducing Konttori back to her mortal stature; now free, the ball of energy soared down into the inner temple, with the Agori heroes following close behind. The Fragment reunited with the Consort, who promptly rushed to attack the Agori, confusing them for Ihanne’s assailants. The Bloody Consort is currently battling the band of Agori beneath Konttori’s cathedral. Yahoo! This was a really fun one to build, one of those ones that just fit together really nicely; and I'm really proud of the result, too! The back; plain but padded! The whip of Ihanne- his chief weapon that he will flagellate himself with during the fight- well, him and others! Then, once he has ritualistically whipped himself enough, well- -then he sheds blood! Now he's ready to hurl some fearsome blood spells at people! Height comparison with an Agori build- yes, another very tall boss- that's part of the fun, isn't it? :D Not as tall as an Exo-Toa though: got one of these bad boys recently, and decided to show it off as well as the MOC! Side by side with some Clerics of Ihanne! Konttori and the Consort, the two current bosses of the Iron Citadel! Facing off against Old Merimies! -and that's it for today! Best of luck to our heroes in facing this fearsome foe! Join the Beyond Botana RPG!
