Ferrari SF71H . This is my LEGO scale model of Ferrari's title challenger for the 2018 Formula One season. . The most obvious visual change on this year's F1 cars is the introduction of the halo safety device above the cockpit. Whereas most teams opted to run a black halo, Ferrari chose to paint theirs red. This caused an issue for me, because I was unable to replicate the entire halo in red (hence the vertical element is black). Other changes when compared to last year's Ferrari SF70H include tighter sidepods, the absence of the engine cover shark fin, more complex sidepod panels, and smaller sidepod air intakes. The most interesting evolution from the SF70H in my opinion is the sidepod air intakes. It is divided up into three sections (four if you count the top inlet) on each side, but only the center-most inlet actually feeds air to the engine. The outer two inlets simply channel air around toward the rear of the car. The most challenging part to build was the sidepods. They're two plates thinner on each side (four in total) and taper off more aggressively than last year's car. But when it finally came together, it was very satisfying to see the result.
