IJN Takao . IJN Takao model 1:192 (approx.) . This is my approx. 1:192 scale model of IJN Takao (1939). When I started building them, I began with Maya and finished her first before moving onto Choukai. It wasn't until a week ago that I picked up LEGO again and finally got around to making Takao. Simply tweaking a few things wasn't going to work like it did with Maya > Choukai. I basically had to remake the entire superstructure and clean it of its previous faults to make it as accurate as I possibly could. Lots of google images later and, thankfully, World of Warships' beautiful in-game model of Takao's sister, Atago, I was able to polish her up and make her almost perfect in my eyes. Of course, "perfect" was never going to be achieved but with the limitations of LEGO, I think I can say I made her as close to the original as possible with the pieces and scale. Speaking of scale, as I said before, she's approx. 1:192 and measuring about 106cm long. Someday, I hope to have the pieces to build her but the cost is so high for that much LEGO that it's a very long time away. She comes in at 2975 bricks as of this post. As I've been working on these ships continuously, that number will no doubt change as time goes on and I find more and more inaccuracies to fix. The perfectionist shows its true colours in LEGO! Takao has to be the most accurate model of all 3 sisters I've made so far and the best model I've made to date. I hope to be just as proud when I can finally build her in person rather than on a screen.
