DA3: AP-9 "Barricade" APC . CAT4 Mechanized Infantry . For your viewing pleasure, I present the first military vehicle used by the Colonial Liberation Corps for use in the war game, DA3: Beyond Thunderdome.
For reference, here are the specs that the AP-9 had to achieve:
1. Your Mechanized Infantry Squad requires 6 soldiers for the squad, a driver and a gunner. The minifigs can be any style (alien, undead, robot, human, etc.) and they must be identified in your write-up. - Done! We got Sgt Wade at the driver's seat, Corporal Smith in the turret, and privates Dan, Stan, Han, McMann, Jan, and Biggs ready to deploy at a moments notice.
2. Your Mechanized Infantry Squad must include an Armored Personnel Carrier that is capable of carrying all 8 minifigs mentioned in SPEC #1. You must include at least once photo of all 8 minifigs in the vehicle in your posting. - Not all in one photo but there is photographic evidence that they all fit comfortable with room to spare for activities!
3. Your Mechanized Infantry APC may be wheeled or tracked. If you choose wheeled you must have a minimum of 6 wheels. You must also include either a spare-tire or a spare length of track (length determined by the player) attached somewhere on the APC. - Done. Bit of nifty engineering if I do say so.
4. Your Mechanized Infantry APC must include a machine gun turret for the the gunner minifig to operate, and you must show the weapon in at least 2 positions. - It moves 360 degrees so that's like 360 positions. Or maybe infinite positions?
The turret features a four barrel 75mm auto cannon array (machine guns basically just high caliber).
Here is an exploded view where you can begin to see the inner-workings. I tried to design the AP-9 with a playset style to it.
Before anyone freaks out and says "Hey there's no spare tire!" here it is. I figured it would last a little longer if it was stored internally.
Here's some pics to prove that the driver fits in the seat with everything assembled. No trickery here! The Colonial Liberation Corps obeys the rules.
The gang's all here! Meet the Colonial Liberation Corps' finest combat troops.
And now, dear viewer, we have reached the end of this posting. I humbly ask for a 5 star rating on this MOC to raise it's military power. Only YOU, citizen can make that call. A vote for this MOC is a vote for freedom against tyranny. Good day to you!
