What's in the Shops: Ep.3 (July 2017) . Rig Swap . Here's a special episode of "What's in the Shops". On June 20, 2017, the Lakeshore Fire Commissioner made a Administrative Order to put the current Pierce Bronto Skylifts in service as Tower Ladder companies and convert the High Rise Unit from a jump company into a manned company and establish a second High Rise company, this was a result of the fatal Grenfell Tower fire and the construction boom of apartments and condos higher than 5 stories. The mayor was also on board with the updates and made an Emergency Fire Budget Plan that includes ordering 4 E-One Brontos and 1 Heavy Rescue (brand unknown), and refurbish all four 85' snorkels. In this picture, Tower Ladder 38 (New Chinatown) is the first company to receive the 134' Bronto and the crew members (including the High Rise Team) are transferring equipment from the Tower to the Bronto: High Rise Team (light blue) helping out. (check out the new fire uniforms both crews are wearing): The last ax: Former Tower 38 is now empty and ready to be sent to the reserve equipment storage garage. I will showcase the new uniform a little later.
