5-14-17 Grove St House Fire (JLFD) . Jakelands Bravest operated at this All Hands job on Grove St. . For more pictures go to the JLFD site (MOC Pages uploader won't let me upload them all) At 12:07 AM, Jakelands Bravest were dispatched to 141 Grove St for a reported house fire. When Squad 3 first arrived, they were met by the residents of the downstairs apartment of the two family house. They reported that they did not know where the upstairs residents were and they could still be inside. Squad 3 quickly split its 6 man crew. Squads normally operate as a FAST team at jobs. Due to Squad 3 being first due, they began operating as a first due ladder. Three members went up to the second floor apartment and began a primary search. Two other members then went up to the roof to begin ventilation. Engine 13 was able to secure a water supply and stretched one hose to the first floor. When Engine 9 arrived, they stretched a second hose to the second floor. Flames quickly extended up the rear walls of the home to the second floor. Tower Ladder 2 was assigned as the FAST truck as Tower Ladder 4 assisted with venting the building and securing the utilities. Rescue 1 made a primary search on the first floor and assisted with fire suppression. At 12:48 AM, the fire was declared under control. All primary and secondary searches were negative. The J.L.P.D. was able to make contact with the second floor residents, who were away for Mothers Day weekend. The cause of the blaze appears to be an oven fire. The downstairs residents reported they were letting the oven clean when they went up to bed. All units that operated at the scene were Engines 13, 9, 7, 6, Tower Ladders 2, 4, Squad 3, Rescue 1, Battalion 2 and Deputy 3.
