Mt. Studstown Rescue 22
Rescue 22 is replacing a 2002 Spartan/Luverne Engine and a 1995 HME/Saulsbury rescue. Since the engine company crew cross-staffed the rescue, it made sense for the department to consolidate the two rigs.
About this creation

This Pierce Quantum rig is my 7th version of the cab! I think it’s safe to say that I’ve come a long way 🤓

Achieving full functionality while maintaining the look required some out-of-the-box thinking.

Doors open to reveal the interior. Yes, I have not fully outfitted the cab, but that’s definitely in the future.

Compartment directly above the discharges and intake holds the attack hose. Compartment directly next to that is the engineer’s pump panel.

All driver’s side compartments can open, revealing vast storage space for rescue tools.

The second compartment holds two slide out boards for common equipment and can be accessed from either side.

Rear shows the FLIR camera used to detect heat and other dangers for firefighters.

Rear also holds the shoring complement. Steps lead to the top of the rescue where other equipment is stored. 750 ft of 4” LDH will be stored in the hose bed.

Rear compartment open shows where the lumber will be stored.

The top of the rig shows the air compressor, a 50 gallon drum for hazmat leaks, various foam tanks, and the 2000 gpm monitor.

Hosebed cover opens and makes putting the hose back easier for the crews.

Rescue 22 also has directional light bars on both sides of the rig to help direct traffic. With Station 22 in the midst of multiple highways, the safety of first responders was at the forefront when designing this particular rig.

All the officer’s side compartments open.

Rescue 22 is staffed by 4 firefighters who are certified in fire, EMS, rescue, and hazardous materials.

Rescue 22 is routinely responds to other districts for technical rescue calls and box fire assignments.

The top of Rescue 22 also shows the NightScan Powerlite which can light up the darkest scene!

Like the driver's side, the cab doors can open too!

The top of Rescue 22 also shows the NightScan Powerlite which can light up the darkest scene!

Mt. Studstown Fire Department Station 22 houses Rescue 22 and Tower Ladder 22.

Mt. Studstown Fire Station 22 is one of the busiest fire houses and runs approximately 30 calls a day.

Mt. Studstown has taken delivery of a brand new 2019 Pierce Quantum PUC rescue engine, replacing a 2002 Spartan/Luverne engine and a 1995 HME/Saulsbury rescue! Rescue 22 is built on a Pierce Quantum tandem axle chassis to accommodate the weight of the necessary equipment. The new rig essentially consolidated the functions of the former Engine 22 and Rescue 22 to maximize efficiency. With over 50 miles of highways as well as multiple first due assignments, this rig will see plenty of action!

Builder’s notes:
The Quantum returns! Now in its 7th original design, this Pierce Quantum might be my best 6-wide representation of the real cab! I absolutely had a blast putting this rig together!
