Foreigner (Chen's Dark Hunter contest Round 1)
My entry to Round 1 of Chen's First Annual Dark Hunter Contest.
About this creation
(Taking a page out of Chouju X's book and writing this from the Shadowed One's perspective, it just feels right)

Foreigner hails from an isolated race of proud warriors who live by a strict moral code. Normally this would prove an issue when doing business, except that this species' 'morality' is completely backwards from any race I've ever met. Violence and all manner of depravity are revered as virtues to Foreigner, and all of his assignments are executed with precision and fervor. Stealing and assassination were elementary studies to him, and from what I've seen he must have been a model student. His swordsmanship has been the bane of many Toa, his targets are always retrieved in excellent condition, and best of all he never questions any mission, no matter how obscene.

Powers: Foreigner possesses sharp claws and long limbs that allow him to scale the sheerest of citadel walls, a tough exoskeleton that serves as natural armor, and antennae that act as an early warning radar that makes sneaking up on him well near impossible. His race can also hold their breath for hours at a time, allowing them to creep along sea beds and infiltrate from almost anywhere, making Foreigner an exceptional spy despite his large stature. He can also seamlessly switch from running on two legs to four, greatly increasing his speed.

Status: Active
Foreigner was chosen from his clan for service in the Dark Hunters. He views his employment as a holy crusade to spread the morals of his island to the world, and so long as none of his missions conflict with that code he will remain a loyal and effective agent. Fortunately, I've yet to find an assignment revolting enough to shake his resolve, and I doubt I ever will.

Battle ready, he can go high...

...And he can go low.

On all fours.

Checking his blades for dullness. The prongs on the back of his legs act as a natural chair for resting.

Just a cool pose.

Front view. Using Toa Mata Lewa for comparison might be exaggerating his height somewhat, but you get the idea.

Back view.

split into his three main components.(EDIT: This is showing off the inner workings of the MOC, not something he can do in-universe. :P)

*Fourth wall phases away*
One of my favorite things about the Dark Hunters was how strange and bizarre they were, all limbs and weapons splayed out every which way. I also wanted to practice using more G1 pieces in my MOCs. So for this MOC I started with my box of old G1 parts and just started sticking things together until I had a basic skeleton, then fleshed it out to try and emulate that same wackiness. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but as always comments and criticism are welcome. Guess that's it for now, Torp out.

Quoting Luterem Toa of Gravity
Probably. I don't have the comments saved from that creation, but I'm pretty sure you didn't. :P Oh great, now I have that mental image in my head too. Thanks, I hate it. :P

Quoting Juppiter Augustus Furnus (JimiFurno) I'll be lucky if mine gets an honorable mention... =P
Kind of a negative compliment, but I'll take it. :P

@Torp The shield bug aesthetic probably would have worked better if you had been able to angle the wings more, but oh well. Also I think I vaguely remember said lewa you mentioned, and I think I didn't like it horribly much the first time you used it either, although I might just be crazy, and I don't recall if I actually commented on that build. :P As for the color balancing, after looking at it more, I think it's more that because of it being all grouped fairly close together. Which then just my brain see it as a competitive cycling outfit, which then just leads to a bug eyed assassin in yellow spandex, which is just mildly strange. And of course I felt a very strong urge to share this with you, because I'm mildly strange. :P

Quoting Solias Toa of Earth very nice! this is awesome! and it's a combiner at that! the head is unique and the neck is shaped very will, although the color scheme does look a bit messy. Also that's some incredible usage of the rahkshi... uhh shoulder.. thing..
Actually, it just comes apart in three main pieces, but if it makes it cooler to you you're welcome to keep thinking that. XP Yeah, not sure what it's called but I don't see people using it too often, thought I'd try implementing it. Aside from limiting the arms somewhat it saves me a lot of pieces building a custom upper body, so it's cool. :P

Thanks!

Quoting Luterem Toa of Gravity
Ah, wouldn't be a Luterem/mini comment without some valid critique. :P There actually was some shaping on the back, the wings just completely hide it. :P I was going for a shield bug kind of feel, but really I just couldn't stand staring at those empty ball joints when I could attach something instead. :P As for the legs, slapped on was the name of the game with that design choice, it's a callback to something I used to do all the time when I was a kid(and still did on that pre-2015 Lewa mockup if you recall). My guess is it has to do with the yellow and silver not staying up at the top like on the arms, now that you mention it I can't unsee it. :P Thanks.

Quoting Master Chen7677 Great character, and an even better backstory! The color scheme is fantastic, and his weapons are pretty good too. My only critique is that I can't think of anything to criticize :P Overall, this is a great build. Thanks for entering!
Thanks, and thanks for hosting!

A pretty solid MOC overall, the torso is quite nice, with some really nice shaping on the front, although I can't say that can be said for the back, and I'm not a huge fan of the use of the wings as back armoring. :P The arms also look really nice, they're pretty simple, but they flow pretty well, and the elbow points are something I really enjoy for some reason. As for the legs, I really don't like the matoran feet on the back of the legs, although they make for a nice gimmick, they just stick out and kind of look slapped on to me, but maybe that's just me. I'm also not a huge fan of the color balance on the legs, couldn't tell you what, but there's something that isn't quite right to me. :P Anyway, it's still a pretty nice MOC. :P
