This is my Porsche 911 (997.2) GT3 RS built in the LEGO Speed Champions scale.
About this creation
After building the narrow body 997.2 GT3, it was a natural progression to build the GT3 RS next. I picked my favorite color scheme of dark gray with red highlights and graphics.
I brick built the graphic to represent the iconic side stripe that transitions into a checkered flag pattern.
The only sticker i used was the Porsche crest from the LEGO Speed Champions sticker sheet.
The rest of the car is based on my 997.2 GT3 build, with the main difference being the wide body on the GT3 RS.
I used a minifigure body bracket to close up a annoying gap on each side of the car at the widebody transition. I learned how to do this from the "LEGO Train Book" that I bought recently. Basically a side stud bracket has a thinner part of the element that is less than a tile thick. You can slot these in to fill in gaps or make very thin stripes. The bracket is held into place on the inside of the car by the surrounding bricks.
The minifigure back bracket is right above the red slope 30 "cheese slope".
The front air intake is a LEGO window from the 1960's to late 1970's. I have used this part on my GT3 RS and Porsche racecar builds.
The rear of the car is 7 studs wide and transitions at the rear wheels/fenders.
The car is very low, but does still roll freely.
I used a combination of jumper plates and tiles to hold the rear to the rest of the car securely. Its totally stable even those 95% of the studs at the transition do not line up at all.
