As you probably guessed from the title I am leaving MOCpages for good.
Some of my reasons are:
- It's a dead platform. I'm sick and tired of posting my creations and getting next to no feedback or ratings. The comments sections are ruled by the same people advertising their group or their own page. I don't see why I should stay when I get much more support and feedback on other platforms such as flickr and instagram.
- The majority of users are young children. This isn't necessarily a bad thing for some, but I get pissed when some kid drops a comment like "I think the official lego version is better cause it can fit two minifigures and has the stud shooter play functions" etc.
- The website is down 50% of the time due to "maintenance". The amount of times i've written a lengthy detailed description just to find out it was all lost due to the monthly maintenance is just frustrating.
It is for such reasons and many more that I am leaving. If you still want to keep up to date with my latest MOC's you can follow me on flickr - Lewis Kiwi or Instagram lewis.kiwi
It's really sad to see you go, and I hope that you do change your mind, but it's your right to leave, so I won't judge. I'd really say part of the problem is that MOCers are giving up too early. Yes, there are indeed some problems that we can't fix ourselves, such as the maintenance problems, but we need to persevere now more than ever. That's not to demean you for leaving, I even feel your pain with being often ignored or feeling unjustly criticized.
But if you really do stay gone, know that we'll miss you, but we won't hate you for this, and if you don't, we're always ready to welcome you back with open arms. It's your choice and it's not our job to make that choice for you. All I can say for now is exactly what you have: Farewell.
