“She hates the Core as much as we do, our Rosanna,”
About this creation
The infamous CLFV Rosanna II began her life as a Colonial Affairs patrol vessel launched in 2510, of the Sagittarius
class, under the name Rosanna. She served for four years before being forcibly retired by order of the ICW Congress, whereupon she was stripped of her weapons and sold off to a private company, along with almost all other CCA Sagittarius class ships. Most were bought by a charter company, where their small size and high speed made them useful as private yachts and courier vessels. Rosanna served as a yacht for three years, before being sold off again to a private captain who re-fitted her for cargo hauling. Unfortunately, due to registration errors, her name had to be changed. The new captain, not wanting to lose the known name, settled on Rosanna II. While he cared fastidiously for her mechanical components, her hull and paint slowly faded from their former glory, until the ship was a grimy if distinct sight at port. In 2525, her captain donated her to the Colonial Liberation Front, where she was re-armed with an assortment of weapon systems. Prior to their acquisition of Essex class vessels in the
following few months, the handful of ex-militia vessels that the CLF had were their most valued fighting ships, and received the lavish if quiet attention of their corps of engineers and
When converted to a fighting ship, Rosanna II had almost all her interior spaces removed and cut down to the spartan necessities in order to decrease mass, and thus increase acceleration.
Rosanna II's tri-core shielding is far more powerful than she was originally design with, and can thus survive greater punishment than many of her opponents suspect on first encounter.
The ship has a large, heavy external docking hatch in the forward airlock.
Above the main airlock is Rosanna II's upper hatch, used to inspect the upper hull and perform EVAs.
The most powerful weapon Rosanna II possessed was a heavy plasma turret slung under her bow. This position hides it from visual inspection from many angles, and allows her to surprise enemies with her firepower.
Rosanna II's spartan interior was not beloved by her crew, but it was sufficient for their needs.
Having been refitted throughout her life, it is difficult to keep track of the equipment of Rosanna II, especially as the CLF seldom
kept records of the work done. Current estimation suggests that Rosanna II is equipped with a
highly modified Romwell Mk. VI triple-unit reactor system – still running a fission plant, but
an incredibly powerful one. This gives her roughly seven times the power she was built for.
Rosanna II's bridge is tight, but still seats the Captain, the pilot, the weapons operator, and the tactical and technical operator.
Most of the ships lower hull panels have been removed to save mass, though it leaves some vital systems exposed.
The ship's cargo hold was once much longer and more spacious, but has been cut down to decrease mass. While once used to haul cargo, the space became a pseudo troop bay for the CLF irregulars who would deploy from Rosanna II.
Rosanna II loads cargo and personnel through a rear loading ramps, which opens into the lower hold.
Built for SHIPtember 2018, Rosanna II is a sort of 'villain ship' to oppose my Thunder Child, which needs to be re-uploaded here, having changed drastically in the last five years.
