Soviet light cruiser pr.68bis, scale 1:700
About this creation

The Sverdlov-class cruisers, Soviet designation Project 68bis, were the last conventional gun cruisers built for the Soviet Navy.

They were built in the 1950s and were based on Russian, German, and Italian designs and concepts developed prior to the Second World War. They were modified to improve their sea keeping capabilities, allowing them to run at high speed in the rough waters of the North Atlantic.

The basic hull was more modern and had better armor protection than vast majority of the post World War Two gun cruiser designs built and deployed by peer nations. They also carried an extensive suite of modern radar equipment and anti-aircraft artillery.

The cruiser was very successful and considered to be one of the best artillery cruisers in the world.

Relatively simple in design they allowed the Soviet Union in the difficult postwar years to quickly restore the power of the Navy.

Total planned to build over 30 ships, however, due to the rapid development of new types of weapons (missiles, jet aircraft, nuclear submarines) cruiser was quickly obsolete, and a series of restricted units 14.

Compare with 1:350 scale model.

My model is sustained in the scale of 1: 700, for the construction took 304 (230) bricks.

Quoting BATOH rossi magnificent! as always you did a great job ... but maybe there is a "bag" this time. the turrets are the same as those for 5 "of my ships, and having experience with them, and hoping for them to be denied, it does not seem that they can rotate.P.S. I am working on my problem of" address "...
Yes, they do not rotate very well )) but you can still turn them. Thank you, my friend. By the way, you haven't made ship models in a long time ;)

Quoting Jeremy McCreary Excellent representation for scale, as always. The big guns are quite clever. Showing my age in saying that big warships just don't =look= right without big guns -- even though I fully understand why they were abandoned.
Thanks, Jeremy! You're right! Falklands very clearly showed the need for artillery on ships!
