This is a model of a LEGO 737-500 classic series. It is built with many of the features that you would expect in one of these planes and it even has fully functioning jet engines!!
PLEASE be sure to go support this project on LEGO ideas-
About this creation
When I built this model I made 2 sets of stickers for it. I gave this model a generic livery for LEGO ideas so there wouldn’t be as many licensing issues. However, for my model it is painted in the BigPlanes livery to show that it is an active LEGO ideas project.
The nose was one of the trickiest parts of this model. Capturing the iconic nose of the 737 took many hours but I think turn out alright.
The landing gear is basic but does fully retract. It is strong enough however to have the plane be rolled around on the ground.
The tail is basically a scaled down version of that from my 747 model.
This aircraft has a full interior and a place to fit figs.
And of course I couldn’t forget the overwing emergency exits!!
I made sure to make this model modular so it could be easily transported and stored.
The first class area has a seating arrangement of 2 seats abreast and I used a minifigure cape to act as the privacy partition between the two classes.
The cockpit was a tight squeeze but I was able to fit a decent amount of detail in there including the cockpit controls.
The economy seating is 4 seats abreast even though it should be 6 abreast on the real aircraft. Again this is due to the limits of LEGO.
Getting the flaps correct on this model were a must. The earlier 737s used tri-fold Fower flaps and on this model they work the exact same way. They are decently sturdy and are basically copied directly from my 747-100 model but they are much more reliable on this model. For lego ideas of course!!
In order to get full access to the interior the roof can be removed in two separate pieces.
Another tour de force from you! Especially like the shaping of the engines. Two years ago, when MOCpages drew a lot more traffic, and tastes were much more diverse, this plane would have had 50+ likes by now.
