DA3: Lion
CAT9: Aircraft Carrier (MILPO). This is a digital entry.
About this creation
Aircraft Carrier for DA3: Catland Corporation.

Catland Corporation is an island country with rich resources... and hostile neighbors. Having a strong fleet is vital. In a deep mystery, our scientists and engineers worked tirelessly and without closing their eyes on the creation of a real Lord of the seas!

The Lion Aircraft Carrier! After studying the world experience, our shipbuilders have applied a number of unexpected solutions that significantly increased the combat effectiveness of the aircraft carrier. First, it built on a SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull). This allowed to achieve excellent seaworthiness, and most importantly - an unprecedented stability in any excitement. "Lion" will be able to operate freely in such conditions, when the captains of aircraft carriers of traditional design will be afraid to stick their nose out of the port!

Secondly, our engineers abandoned the "corner deck" which has become a classic element of any large aircraft carriers built after the second world war. The stability of the ship and the high position of the hull above sea level allows the aircraft to start directly from the hangar! Which in its front part there are two electromagnetic catapults. This allows you to prepare the aircraft for departure in a comfortable hangar, not in the open air.

Accordingly, the entire upper deck is provided for the landing of aircraft. Although, to increase the intensity of combat missions, the bow of the upper flight deck is also equipped with an electromagnetic catapult and a ramp for short-takeoff aircraft.

The aircraft wing of the ship consists of heavy tactical fighters Su-33, light fighters Flying Cat of different modifications, AWACS and anti-submarine aircraft. Scale approximately 1: 700

The ship has three aircraft lift. Right Elevator's up.

Right Elevator's down.

View of the bow of the ship. The ship has two island superstructures. In the bow is primary flight control.

View of the stern. In the aft superstructure are bridge and flight deck control.

The underwater part of the ship deserves a separate conversation. In fact, these are two huge nuclear submarines that supply the ship with energy and allow it to glide silently over the water at enormous speeds for such a giant! They also have a wide suite of hydroacoustic sensors and a wide range of weapons launched from torpedo tubes. In emergency situations, the death of the aircraft carrier, the submarine are used to evacuate the crew. Although such a case is simply impossible to imagine!

Screenshots which are visible aircrafts in the hangar.

The location of the aircrafts in the hangar and on the upper deck.

Comparative picture with the classic aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, built in the same scale 1: 700

I would be grateful if you support glorious Navy of Catland Corporation and vote for this MOC :)

PS Gentlemen of the Newport News shipping don't even think of building without a license! Our lawyers will sue you! And the Rangers will p*ss on your slippers...

Quoting Tom's MOCs Cool concept. With the SWATH technology taken to this immense scale, I imagine that no drydock of the size that we know today would be able to accommodate the ship. Also, when in drydock, the weight of the carrier above would put enormous strain on the struts to the subs. The points of detachment (re: emergency escape via sub) might be the weakest point structurally, no? Regardless, very imaginative!
Yes, of course, if all the calculate, the ship probably would have looked a little differently :) However, the original design is the only thing I could oppose to the aircraft carrier Mark b, which we will soon see I hope. He is building a masterpiece on a scale of 1: 200. :) Thank You, for comment!

Quoting Gabor Pauler This is your most creative MOC so far, and extremly well thought out from engineering point of view (well exceeding the usual requirements of DA3). I have 2 questions: - The bow hangar door: in harsh conditions a superwave can flood the hangar deck, causing serious destabilization because of movement of water in large open space (think about the disaster of ferry Estonia). - The highly placed superstructure will not allow any armoring of flight deck, is it true?
Thank you! On the upper flight deck, a multilayer spaced armor made of composite materials is used. They are much lighter than traditional armor steel. Superwave... This is a serious threat. A huge mass of water has enormous energy! Standard fire and anti-skew bulkheads hangar it will not hold. The nose closing ramp will greatly complicate the design and reduce reliability. But the hangar is relatively high-waves of this height are extremely rare. Loss of stability will not be due to powerful drainage systems. However, possible damage to the aircraft in the hangar. Perhaps in the modernization of added lift ramp just behind the catapults.

Quoting Zach Sweigart Colorful and unique! I really like carriers that go outside the normal shape that most carriers have.
Thanks, Zach! I'm a fan of classic ships. But I decided to build a futuristic and original ship to somehow compete with Mark B! Looks like he's building a masterpiece! :D

Quoting BATOH rossi wow, wow, wow! really original approach my friend ... I guess there is a system of closing the bow in the event of a hurricane or typhoon, or you would embark only seaplanes! joking aside ... fantastic work;)
