Multi-role destroyer. Name and details will be added soon.
About this creation
This multi-role destroyer is the 5th ship of the Brick Isle Defense Force Naval Division was finally launched in 2015.

This is truly a multi-role design, attempting to meet essentially all major roles on about the smallest feasible displacement.

The armament consists of three separate gun systems. The main guns at the bow consist of two twin 5inch guns with 360 degree rotation and fairly high angle conferring both surface attack and anti-aircraft modes.

Just behind the bridge in wing positions are two 57 mm dual purpose guns. Rounding out the gun armament is a phalanx CIWS mounted on the hangar aft.

Although this ship was developed after the Wasp class gunboat which carries missiles, to date this ship has no standard missile armament.

The mid-ship launcher has so far only been used for high speed target drones, and in any event there is inadequate space for reloads.

The hangar has room for three large drones. Several different designs are in ongoing testing and development. These drones have substantially higher speed and longer range than the drone of the previous corvette. The drones do not carry armament but are used only for recon and targeting.

Not readily visible in the main picture, there is boat well under the hangar deck that can launch special ops jet skis and inflatable support and other support craft as needed.

As would be expected this was an over-ambitious attempt to meet too many roles in an inadequate hull. The primary mitigating factor is that the ship virtually always will operate within support of land-based aircraft and shore based missiles.

The ship has undergone one minor and one major refit. The minor refit was enclosing the targeting radar over the bridge.

The major refit resulted in motorizing the forward main guns. These can be operated via wired or IR remote control as needed.

A major refit is in the planning stages. Of consideration are:

- removing or reducing the size of the boat well
- adding surface to surface missiles
- adding surface to air missiles

Ultimately, follow on ships are expected to have increased displacement to better accommodate the above features.

So did you ever see this: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2010057
Quoting Clayton Marchetti Awesome destroyer! I remember when you posted pictures of your army on Brickshelf. You inspired me to build my own military. I built 2 submarines a pt boat and a cruiser and a landing craft. Plus a bunch of aircraft. I didnít have nearly as many soldiers though. It was fun.
