DA3: Port Heineken
DA3 / Naval Fleet / Port Facility
About this creation
Port Heineken - the headquarters of the Brewtopian Imperial Navy. Here is a summary of the important details of the port:

Sub Pen: On the left side of the sub pen is an SSBN (nuclear ballistic submarine, or "boomer"), and to its right are two SSNs (nuclear attack submarines). Behind the sub pen is the submarine command (COMSUB) headquarters building.

Pier 43: The left-most pier. On the left side are two DDGs (guided missile destroyers), each with a forward rail launcher. Also on the left is an ASW (anti-submarine cruiser, with an embarked helicopter. On the right side of the pier are two VLS (vertical launch system) CGNs (nuclear guided missile cruisers).

Pier 44: The middle pier. On the left side are a pair of CVNs (nuclear-powered aircraft carriers). On the right is an LHA (amphibious assault carrier) and a fast supply ship. Between Pier 44 and Pier 45 is the Brewtopian Imperial Navy headquarters building.

Pier 45: The right-most pier. On the left side is a hospital ship and another fast supply ship. On the left are two old battlewagons, BB-56 IBS Genesee and BB-58 IBS Narragansett.

There are a number of other buildings and structures at the port facility. Most are cranes, warehouses, bunkers, and secure storage locations. Two structures of note, though, are the radio antenna used by HQ to communicate with its fleet and the brewery, which keeps all of the ships in port fully stocked.

In the harbor two fighters are launching off of the IBS Sierra Nevada, getting ready to buzz the lighthouse before they proceed to their CAP mission.

And now for the sea shanty (Oh, joy,... NOT!)

The Imperial Navy is proud and strong.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!
Sailors word the whole day long.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!

Get on the piers, and don't be late.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!
Get your orders from the first mate.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!

Loading freight and hauling line.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!
Mop those decks until they shine.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!

Soon some more ships will arrive.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!
Over on pier forty-five.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!

When day is done, it's time to cheer.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!
Let's all go have a round of beer.
Heave-Ho! Heave-Ho!

Quoting Pico van Grootveld As a Dutchman, this port Heineken makes me proud! Well done m8
Thanks. But this port is probably not as grand as Port Cabo Wabo. ;-)

Thanks. I'm glad I added the aircraft to the carrier decks. For a while, I was thinking that I would just leave them empty.

Quoting Master Shifu Leo J A couple of brewskis to calm down seasickness... wait, is that water really beer?
I've heard of green beer for St. Patrick's day, so why not have a harbor full of blue beer?

Possibly, but as far as a traditional one goes I can't picture something much better. I'm going in a st(_)pid direction with mine.

Quoting P. Andrei Doesn't get much better within this category.
Thanks. My naval base is pretty traditional, so I'm sure there is plenty of room for improvement by doing something more creative.

Quoting Michiel Norp Brilliant port and ships. You did a hospital ship too. Heineken.. not my fabourite Dutch beer ..Grolsch is better:)
Thanks. When it comes to actually drinking, Grolsch would be my preference, too, but it doesn't really sound too good as the name of a port.

Quoting Zach Sweigart That is the kind of heavy metal naval fleet action that I’ve come to expect from you, Mark. Nice work! And you over-speced on how many ships you needed! I wouldn’t mess with the Brewtopian navy after seeing a sight like this.
Thanks. Yeah, I went a little above and beyond in terms of the ship requirement, but that's because this type of category is something I'd probably do on my own (but probably at a little larger scale).

Quoting Keith Goldman Well you're in good company with your dissatisfaction, everybody has a complaint.
I think I'm done complaining now, unless one of the upcoming categories requires me to drink a Budweiser.

Seems like you're not having much fun General B, you don't approve of the rules or the categories. Nevertheless your Flee/Port Facility is specifications-accurate and ready for turn 5. Don't forget to indicate the location of your Port on the ORBAT.

Thanks. I think my dimensional argument came out of moment of frustration and it was unfair criticism. I've deleted it now. I will say, though, that I am really not too fond of the poetry/ballad/prose requirements.

Thanks. In retrospect, I think my dimensional argument was probably unfair criticism, so I have deleted it. The sea shanty, though,... I thought that pain was going to be over with the ranger poem.

Quoting Doug Hughes Oh man, another stellar port... and another fantastic build from you! Well done, the facilities and ships are just awesome, and I love the aircraft carrier/helicopter details too!
Thanks. To be honest, when I started this build, I wasn't even sure if I was going to build a carrier, since I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to do it, but the carriers ended up looking pretty good, so I'm glad I included them.
