DA3 CAT #16: DPRNO Ranger Corps
"We, the elite, are definitely, certainly, and undeniably NOT in charge, and this fair, democratic, and equal country is definitely, certainly, and undeniably ruled by the people, and this motto is not too long nor sarcastic AT ALL." - DPRNO state motto. Sorry for any poor image quality
About this creation
This is a build for the MOCpages game Decisive Action 3. Please check out my other DA3 builds and rate them, that'd be really helpful. While I'm shamelessly plugging myself here, please also give this post a good rating!

The Specifications (SPECS) are as follows:

Whether scouting trails, observing the enemy, or conducting sabotage deep in enemy territory, the Ranger provides an out-sized value to the military they serve. Trained in the arts of unconventional and asymmetric warfare, the Ranger can strike undetected and disappear before the enemy can muster a defense. The Ranger typically acts alone, but a small team working together is enough to stop an army in its tracks.

1. Mobility through rough terrain is key to a ranger's effectiveness. You must build a land vehicle or mount no longer than 12 studs, nor wider than 8 studs. It must be capable of fitting a single complete minifigure. It must have a visually identifiable means of propulsion.

FAQ: There is no thematic limitation for this build. It could be any sort of vehicle, animal, or robot, (or other thing), so long as if meets those criteria. Wheels, legs, treads, chainsaw hands, anything goes as long as it provides movement by applying friction to the ground! Official LEGO figurines, such as horses, dinosaurs, and Tauntauns are forbidden for this spec, no matter how nice you make their saddle- this is a building challenge, not a decorating one!

2. Rangers live a lonely life, and everyone needs a friend. Build a non-humanoid companion of no less than ten pieces and include a picture of it with your ranger. Give it a proper name in the write-up. This build cannot double as the first spec. Please include a breakdown shot allowing the DAS to count your pieces.

FAQ: Similar to the first FAQ, AI drones, and robots, and animals, and all that can be built- just nothing shaped like Man. They cannot be used as the first spec, no matter how deep your relationship with horses may be, your ranger gets a separate friend. They can ride along if you can fit them, though.

3. Rangers are a jack of all trades within your military. Create the two following scenes to include as separate mocs for this category. They do not have to include the vehicle or companion, they only have to include your ranger figure.

Your Ranger “silencing” an enemy sentry. This may be a second minifigure, or a brickbuilt creation such as a robot or a security system.

Your Ranger planting an explosive. This scene requires some sort of objective to be destroyed such as a vehicle, supplies, a bridge, etc. Also a bomb, of course.

FAQ: Do try to make them look nice.

4. Write a minimum 100 word story, poem, creed or song to go with your Ranger in addition to your explanatory write-up.

FAQ: Add some sort of title or separation so the DAS knows where your description ends and this begins. I like limericks.

So, with that out of the way, here is a member of the Democratic People's Republic of Not an Oligarchy's Ranger Corps! Used as scouts, support, saboteurs, and all manner of other things, the Ranger Corps has a variety of tools at it's disposal to get it's mission done.

For this category, I built a 12x8 stud buggy with room for one minifigures as well as gear. The buggy is primarily propelled via gas engine, but it can also get extra propulsion from the large fan on the back. This fan, however, is mostly used for amphibious movement, as the buggy is capable of traversing through marshland and swamps, making it very versatile for warfare.

Here, Ranger Carl Jensen stands atop his companion: a standard issue DPRNO pet rock from Ogrch Tec (Coincidentally the same company that builds the buggy. And the weapons, and uniforms, and this computer... not that there's a monopoly that's part of the non-existent oligarchy that runs our totally-democratic society or anything...). The Enrichment Center reminds you that the Pet Rock will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

Here one can see the seat and controls of the buggy, unobstructed by the driver.

And this is the massive (but oddly silent) fan that can propel the thing

As you can see the buggy is 12 studs long...

...and 8 studs wide.

Here, Ranger Carl has snuck up behind an unsuspecting generic enemy solider guarding a generic enemy outpost. Raising his standard-issue Ogrch Tec rifle, he takes aim at the enemy, and pulls the trigger.

After the sentry falls dead from the fatal shot, Ranger Carl is free to move forward, grabbing his pack as he runs to the outpost. Opening the pack, he procures an explosive. Setting the timer, he plants the bomb at the outpost, and flees back to the relative safety of his buggy. With this outpost out of the way, the grand army of the Democratic People's Republic will be free to march onwards towards their inevitable and righteous victory!

And now, The Ranger's Creed:

"We, Ranger Corps of the Democratic People’s Republic of Not an Oligarchy, vow to uphold the ideals of democracy and freedom – which our non-oligarchic government obviously stands for – by ruthlessly and systematically taking out our enemies using any means necessary to allow the grand armies of our Supreme (and obviously elected) Ruler Marilyn Spoted (which is NOT an anagram for "Despot") to march on. To Find the safe paths which our tanks and transports may use to deploy troops. To –
ALL HAIL THE GOVENRMENT
ALL HAIL THE GOVENRMENT
ALL HAIL THE GOVENRMENT
ALL HAIL THE GOVENRMENT
ALL HAIL THE GOVENRMENT."

What? You said you liked limericks! That last bit is kind of a limerick....

I do know that isn't anything close to a limerick, besides being five lines long, with the first, second, and fifth rhyming, and the third and fourth rhyming.

I have a few questions about DA3: A. What is it? As in the theme. B. How do you join? C. Is it SC-FI? And if so how much? I am interested in joining I`d just like to know a little about it first.

He has a pet rock... I'm shaking my head right now, I don't even know what to say. I mean... Maybe? Unfortunately I can't approve this because you need 2 strictly different vignettes for the additional builds. I don't count a standalone fig as the "silencing a sentry" one. The structure you built could work for either vignette, but please build one more scene. It should be a quick fix. You choose which one to replace. Also, I'm going to get back to you about that pet rock.
