DA3 / Logistics Landing Craft (CAT 13)
About this creation
A Brewtopian Imperal Marines LCAC (Landing Craft - Air Cushion), code named "Rolling Rock." If you see a group of these approaching your shores, you better head for the hills, because a storm is brewing. The LCACs can zip the Imperial Marines onto a beachhead at 80 knots, so that they can pound the snot out of the defenders before they even know what hit them.

In this first group of pictures, the LCAC is moving across the water. The ramps are up. On board the LCAC are a fully loaded APC, a fully loaded ABC (armored beer carrier), and several palettes of "ammunition."

The next group of pictures shows the LCAC with the ramps down and unloading. The APC is pulling forward off the bow ramp while the ABC backs down off the stern ramp. Note that not only are the ramps down, but also the skirt is deflated.

Although the operator should be visible in a few of the above pictures, I had a hard time getting the lighting to work in the renders so that he is actually visible, so I am including this direct capture from LDD to show him inside the wheelhouse.

Quoting Jack Sparrow You beat me to an LCAC. I'm familiar with these from my Marine Corps service. They're excellent craft. This is a very well built LCAC and fits your APC plus some. Awesome work! :-)
Thanks. I leaned heavily on the US Marines LCAC for inspiration. Originally I wasn't planning on it being so large, but made it big so that the skirt could curve more gently.

Quoting Doug Hughes This really is fantastic all around! I especially love that you have a version with the base deflated!
Thanks. The deflated version was a little bit extra work, but I think it was well worth it, especially since it made it easier to design the ramps.

Quoting Nick Barrett Very slick, and with twice the ability! Go get 'em.
Thanks. As I mentioned earlier, I didn't really plan to build a 3,300+ part monster, but needed to make it big enough so that I could curve the skirt gracefully. The two-APC capacity was a bonus. Hey, maybe I should get double LAND MILPO for amphibious assaults. I'll have to take that up with the DAS. :-)

Thanks. I spent some time looking at some real LCACs before sitting down to work on this.

Quoting Patrick Boyle Brewtopia has nice stuff for a bunch of drunks. Nice work with... All of it I guess, but the skirt came out very clean.
We're drunks, but we're functional drunks. Our military design bureau can come up with some great stuff if you dangle a few beers in front of them.

You are a GO for DA3 CAT13. Excellent. Want a stern ramp? No rule against it... just make sure the SPCs are met. And yes... she looks just like an LCAC. Keeping up the speed without compromising the quality. You and Sweigart are saving the reputation of builders in both the digital and the plastic realms. Great effort both of you!

Quoting Jeremy McCreary Spectacular in both concept and detail, Mark! And it looks like it would hold up pretty well in real brick under gravity. As for peacetime uses, don't forget that getting the snot pounded out of you could be a good thing if you have a sinus infection.
Thanks. I am pretty certain that you are correct about the stability of this model. The bottom is completely flat, so support is not much of an issue. On a more serious note, there are some very large civilian air cushion vehicles that are used as ferries in some parts of the world. Building one of them is on my ever-growing "to do" list.

Beer tanker, eh? We'll have to see what comes up in the ancillary power categories, but that is definite possibility.

Quoting P. Andrei Now you're just showing off. 2x apcs? Another excellent build, you're on a roll.
Thanks. I didn't really plan to make the LCAC that big, but ended up having to "go large" in order to make the curved section of the skirt look not look too choppy.

Quoting Pico van Grootveld Sheesh you guys are fast. And no consessions to quality.. how do you do it? Well done man, awesome realistic build and presentation.
Thanks. As far as speed goes - building ship components is something that is definitely in my wheelhouse. Once I worked out how to build a decent-looking skirt, the rest came pretty quickly.

Quoting BATOH rossi As always in your MOC is a pleasure to see the attention to every detail. a classic LCAC ... it will not be difficult to convince the crew to EMPTY a few casks of beer to use as a lifeboat!
Thanks. I think the crew is already "at work" creating that lifeboat.

Quoting * Joey4026 * I like how you showed it inflated and deflated in two different pics. Very nice overall --simple and good.
Thanks. The inflated and deflated versions were a little extra work, but there was a practical reason for it (just like with the real thing): when the skirt is deflated, the LCAC sits lower to the ground, so the ramp doesn't need to be as long.

Thanks. Clearly we had some similar ideas here. I did try to make mine look as "authentic" as possible, rather than going for something more whimsical (like I think I going to do for my ground attack aircraft).
