This 2 Alarm fire took place on Bergen St in Jakeland.
About this creation
At 2:10 PM, Jakeland's Bravest in Downtown Jakeland were dispatched to 15 Bergen Street for a report of a working structure fire. When Engine 5 arrived on scene, they found heavy fire on the second and third floors of a three story brick tax payer. On the first floor is a commercial business with residences above on the second and third floors. Engine 5 stretched an attack line to the second floor, but were quickly forced to back out as conditions quickly deteriorated. Deputy Chief Carroll then requested a 2nd Alarm to the scene. As flames flashed on the second and third floors, Tower Ladder 1 sent it's crew up to the roof to vent. They also however had to retreat as the roof became unstable and would eventually partially collapse. As flames raged out of control on the second and third floors and through the roof, Tower Ladder 1 and Ladder 3 placed their master streams in operation. With the aggressive defensive attack by Jakelands Bravest, the fire was held to the original fire building. Thankfully no one was injured at this incident. The cause for the fire was determined to be an electrical extension cord. All units that operated at the scene were Engines 5, 1, 4, 2, 15, 6, Ladder 3, Tower Ladders 1, 2, Squad 10, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Deputy 4.
