highest expression of the Republic's air forces, the genesis of the MkII was less linear than it might appear. the Folgore MkI had already satisfactory performances and was taken as a basis to give substance to the air component of the "LONE RANNER" program, officially canceled after the controversial preliminary test of the prototype (whose details remain secret). the know-how acquired in the development of the hardware could however be used together with the new "LIGHT CORE" softwere, conceived to obtain a class of components immune to EM pulses, thanks to the use of new optical matrix processors. the first result was the EF2 (specific for electronic warfare) and, only subsequently, the F2 MkII for generic combat. from it the A1 Linx was then obtained, but this is another story ... A direct comparison with the MkI highlights its evolution in the main critical aspects.
About this creation

1-the nose aerodynamics was refined as much as possible, even with the replacement of the previous IRST with a more compact with wide-angle field of view.

3-the pilot has a higher position and less inclined (the field of vision is better) and has two large multi-function screens in front of him.

5-the air intakes: a flow regulation plate stabilizes the incoming air, which is then parted inside the new large structure, based on the altitude and speed, avoiding overheating of the first stage of the engine compressor ( caused by excess air, in the Mk I to be vented through the side louvers), as happened at high speeds with the old fixed geometry air intake. this arrangement now makes it possible to exploit the engine at its maximum power.

7-the end part of the wing is connected (the air flow is stabilized and the aerodynamic drag reduced). The homologated support for the new IR missiles, has integrated the ECM equipment.

9-the landing gear is of the "slim" type (with the front leg completely redesigned) that leaves more space for the hooking of the arms and facilitates the work of the ground personnel (a very appreciated thing!).

15-in the MkI to increase the range of action was resorted to a CFT with external probe for refueling in flight, which increased but the aerodynamic drag (and significantly destabilized the attitude being asymmetric). now the CFT is integral and the probe is completely retracted. the system is aerodynamically neutral.

20-the ECM system has "eyes" (highlighted in red) distributed to obtain omnidirezzioinal coverage.

21-the flaps in position "All 45", to obtain maximum lift.

22-flaps in the "All stop" position, to obtain maximum braking effect after landing.

23-highlighted in blue the 13 attachment points for the armament. those with the yellow dot are "Wet", designed to accommodate the fuel tanks.

24-without the fairing of the right wheel you can see (highlighted in light green) the filling of the fuel supply.

25-on the left the electric power connection.

26-interception: 4 AA missiles ARM-7 "Arrow", 2 AA missiles IRM-4 "Snake", 1 fuel tank FT-700, and behind it there is a dispenser of flares and chaff, the CMD "Peacock" .

32-air superiority: 6 AA ARM-7 "Arrow", 2 AA IRM-4 "Snake", 1 fuel tank FT-1300.

33-ground attack: 6 AS missiles GAM-4 "Dart-E", 1 FT-1300.1 lighting and tracking pod LLT "sniper" and 1 pod ECM "Nebula-O".

35-here with 4 AS GAM-13 "Bunkerbuster".

36-the standard attack configuration is equipped with 2 FT-1300 (with a CMD"Peacock" on the back of both lashing pylons), 2 IRM-4 "Snake" for self-defense, 1 LLT "Sniper", 1 ECM pod "Nebula-O". here with 8 guided bombs GB-53 (gps).

37-here with 8 GB-54 (laser).

38-here with 13 cluster bombs CB-55.

39-suppression of enemy air defense: 4 AS anti-radar RAM-9 "Thunder", 8 CB-55.

42-a promotional photo to impress the bureaucrats of the Ministery of Defens (and convince them to unlock funding ...) with a payload of 25 CB-55! the presentation photo (with all the docking points occupied by almost all the available armament, to emphasize the full swing-role capacity) had the same purpose.

43-when in-flight refueling is not an option available the configuration with 1 FT-1300 and 2 FT-900 offers a good compromise between autonomy and payload (here 6 GB-53).

46-reconnaissance: the "Blue Eye-E" pod. unlike the previous "Blue Eye" it sees in all the electromagnetic spectrum.

47-in-flight refueling: thanks to an independent aerodynamic generator the pod "Source" II has a high fuel transfer speed, with a consequent reduction in refueling times.

48-A pair of A1 Lynx replenishes before a fire support mission.

51-nuclear strike: 1 missile cruise CM (N) "black sun", 1 decoy drone DM-2 "Puppet".

55-from top to bottom, from left to right: pod for refueling "Source" II. "Blue Eye-E" multi-spectrum reconnaissance pod. decoy drone DM-2 "Puppet". is able to generate false radar echoes that simulate the emissions of other much larger airplanes and to detect and communicate the enemy emissions to the mother plane. dispenser of flares and chaff CMD "Peacock". FT-700, FT-900 and FT-1300 fuel tanks. cruise missile CM (N) "Black sun". ground attak missile GAM-13 "Bunkerbuster". radar attak missile RAM-9 "Thunder". ground attak missile GAM-4 "Dart-E". air to air missile (active-radar guided) ARM-7 "Arrow" .air to air missile (IR guided) IRM-4 "Snake". guided bomb (gps) 500Kg GB-53. guided bomb (laser) 500Kg GB-54. cluster bomb 500Kg CB-55. lighting and tracking pod LLT "Sniper". ECM pod "Nebula-O".

Quoting Clayton Marchetti Wow! Beautiful job on this fighter! I love the refueling prob and the air intakes with the new tile. The landing gear is awesome! I also love the ordinance shot. Outstanding work!
really thanks Clayton! integrating the refueling prob made me crazy ... I'm particularly proud of the landing gear, the project is almost 30 years old but it still works well!

Quoting James Williams Awesome design!! I think a fly-off against my ADF-27C would be interesting. Great job!
thank you very much James!

Quoting Henrik Jensen I`m not a huge fan of digital builds, for me it`s just a brilliant design tool which I use before I build in real bricks. But it is a cool little multirole plane you have designed, and all the renders are really nicely done and looks very lifelike. I also like the nice support vehicles! Why not build it in real bricks?
thanks for your appreciation, Heinrik. answering your question: unfortunately resources, space and time to build IRL I miss them in a chronic way ... and believe me, I'm the first one I'd like to! in the specific case of F2: it is the refinement of an IRL project (obviously the F1 ...) dating back to a quarter of a century ago, which I should soon be able to exhume from an old box dispersed in my garage ...

Quoting Toa Whero Woah, this is awesome. The detail is great!
thank you so much! I have a short video made of 50 photos in sequence that shows the functionality of the landing gear ... unfortunately I do not have the ability to upload it :(
