Hi all, it's been a while- so now we meet our very first boss for the Beyond Botana RPG- the grotesque Tar-Clogged Rider! Let the battle commence!
About this creation
“Embers floated in the heated air as the Tar-Clogged Rider howled into the night sky once again, arms raised into the air and tentacles thrashing wildly.”
-Narrator, Beyond Botana RPG (Chapter 2: The Quest Begins)

Tar-Clogged Rider:
The Tar-Clogged Rider was an Agori cavalryman, transformed by a disease known as the Tar, twisted, mutilated and fused to the body of its steed; whoever this poor soul used to be is now lost to time. Though the beast retained little thought or personality, its strength and ferocity was nothing to be scoffed at; the Rider travelled at staggering steeds, and a heavy strike from one of its two morning-stars could send a foe flying twenty paces.

Those who lived in the Helgran Village before the coming of the Tar will remember an Agori; a proud, jolly, adventurous Agori who wished to become a Helgran Warrior. He modelled himself after the world renowned Fotoh the Unchallenged, not only in the armour that he wore but also his unquenchable desire for adventure and glory. Much like Fotoh, this Agori spent many years trying to join the Helgran Warriors, despite his ineptitude for combat. His mother, who loved him dearly, urged him to reconsider his choice, to find another vocation. However, the young boy never gave up on his dream, however unattainable it was.

When the Tar invaded Botana, and Lord Krickarr sent out the call to fight it, the Agori desperately wanted to go; however, his mother decreed that he would remain at home, for he was not properly trained and would not be safe. Angry and tearful, the Agori insulted his mother for the first time in his life, which left her in tears; this in itself caused him to honour his mother’s wish and remain home, against his deepest desire. However, the Tar would soon attack the village, and the Agori resolved to defend it. He stole two morning-stars and a Gukk from a neighbour, proceeding into battle; however, he was soon infected by the Tar.

This Agori was thus transformed into the mindless Tar-Clogged Rider, his mind eroded into nothingness. When the Village Elder, Virgil, discovered this new creature, he sealed it away within the main Helgran Plaza, and informed a band of adventurers during the village evacuation. These heroic Agori travelled into the Plaza and battled the Tar-Clogged Rider themselves. Though the beast proved formidable, they soon managed to wear it down; the rider was separated from the steed by an Agori named Maikuku, and although these two halves continued to fight on, they were eventually overwhelmed and destroyed.

The steed was decapitated by Kapua the Warrior, while the Rider itself was finished off by Beowulf the Unchallenged. Now, none but the poor mother remember this tragic fool.

Here he is! Not the most elegant thing I've ever built, but then again, it's not a very elegant character, so it fits.

Side view- this was built primarily with CCBS, with a few technic and Bionicle G1 parts for armouring or structural aids- as a result, it was a very fun build, as CCBS is a much simpler sysytem that relies on adding and adding to a basic structure.

It even has back armour!

"Hey, I heard you like morning-stars..."

When critically damaged, the Tar-Clogged Rider can detach from its steed, and one threat quickly becomes two!

The detached Rider will slowly crawl its way to adversaries and strike them from behind while they're dealing with the much bigger threat-

-that being the Tar-Clogged Steed, now much faster and more agile without its Rider weighing it down!

Height comparison with an Agori build.

Height comparison with Toa Raxonax.

Summoning Tar-based minions!

Facing off against Lady Fita- could her magic ever hope to fell this dire beast?

...more importantly, can Merimies and the rest of the gang hope to face the Tar-Clogged Rider!

That's all folks- and good luck!

Never too late to join the Beyond Botana RPG!

Quoting QuartzRoolz (Patrick ~) when you know its based on a dark souls boss, but you genuinely have no-clue which one. best guess would be that its a reversed second form Iudex, given the resemblance to puss of man enemy's, but it could also draw inspiration from auldrich. good moc regardless, but kinda hard to decipher due to the all black colour scheme
Hahaha, funny that- this is one of the few Beyond Botana bosses of mine that aren't directly one-on-one inspired by a Dark Souls Character- you'll see more direct parallels later down the line :P

Quoting Pontel Gunn Well, what I see in resemblance is a black mass of arms and tentacles over taking someone lol. Oh, and are we gonna have a boss building contest? :o
Hahaha Thanks Pontel! Maybe, in time- we'll have to see :P

Thanks Gaim! Why not get in on the RPG and help us take it down? ;)

Quoting Shining TORPedo @Lucas R: That's what I thought too, and I looked it up. Technically, a Morning Star is a ball on a stick with spikes jutting out, and is named because it looks like the sun I guess. A mace is any stick with a heavy head, and the head is usually covered in flanges or knobs, but not spikes. Flails(either two- or one-handed weapons with a separate striking head attached with a rope or chain), on the other hand, come in about every shape and size, including the kettenmorgenstern, which is just a fancy way of saying chain morning star".
Essentially all that, though I stand by that what he's holding are morning-stars and not maces.

Quoting Lucas R. Wow, impressive. Not to be critical, but a morning-star is a star on a chain. What he's holding are maces.
Cheers Lucas! Actually, a Morning-Star is commonly a spiked ball on a handle, though some variants come on chains. Typically though that would be referred to as a flail.

Ah, well, it takes a lot of practice and tinkering! Nothing to cry annually about :P Glad you like the MOC Ivan!

Quoting Chet The Cookieghost Positively monstrous! A little odd that someone who was inept at fighting became a boss but the tar does strange things. Live the design and flow.
Thanks Chet! Yes, perhaps, but you could consider it a mixture of the Tar and the Gukk providing most of the power as opposed to the Rider himself. :P Glad you enjoy the MOC!

Quoting Pontel Gunn Man this is insanity... there is so much going on in the MOC, but it feels so perfect. Upon seeing this moc I realized just how much tar is similar to Venom from Marvel. Oh also, is it okay with what I did with the Hollows?
Glad you like it! Yes, there's a lot of similarity between the Tar and the Symbiont, but funnily enough it's actually coinciental. Hmm, what thing are you referring to specifically there?

Quoting Makuta's Descendant - @Wertman8 Well yeah, but I don't know if he'll be any good. Plus I don't think I can do the whole stats thing. The character idea was to be a greedy merchant who sells a liquid which he makes people think is a cure for Tar, but it actually does nothing.
Sounds like an interesting idea- you should do it- we can worry about stats later...!

Quoting Makuta's Descendant - So that's what Tar does to the agori.....IT'S DARN TERRIFYING!!! Other than that I really do like this moc. Mind if I try and make a tar covered creature?
It is indeed- and yes, you may... have you considered creating a playable character for it too?

Quoting Shining TORPedo Haha, and I was in the middle of trying to build this myself. Nevermind! *Tosses MOC in bin* :P Very cool, and quite intimidating. The Ocstricth(yeah, that's what I'm calling it now) is pretty snazzy, I especially like the tail area. The rider is buffer than I expected, but I guess that makes sense. Nice work, I'ma go punch it now. :P
Hahahaha I beat you to it- sorry man :P I'm glad you like the MOC- and yes, the Ostrich is a suiting name for such a beast :P The rider is quite bulky indeed, though he did model himself after Fotoh, my previous player character- so it does make sense. Good luck in punching it!
