So, with the announcement of Lego 42083 (Bugatti Chiron) I have had Bugatti engines on the mind. If one watches the promo video put out by Lego one can see a proposed model of a W16 with the current large Technic engine blocks (2850). However, although blurry and not a complete picture, what can be seen looks pretty horrible. Part 2850 is going to be just to clunky to make a proper W16.
Here is a model I built. Not proposed for 42083 as it likely will be too small, but it is scaled to Technic figures. Works great. Probably going to get more out of the video than the pics. If you have a hard time seeing the video below, check it out here .
As always, better pics are on my flickr page, here .
Thanks All! One thing I like about it is that there is the 1/2 stud offset between cylinders. One thing I don't like about it is that there are two crankshafts.
But.... have no fear, had so much fun with the project I have something in the works that solves this problem.
I always believed that this solution would break up in the reality. Good to see that it is working, thanks for showing. In my vision, its scale fits better to WWII piston fighter engines, or tank engines.
