The Insurgency Season 2: Episode 1 - FB/Re-Intro - Rebirth
The opening episode to my Insurgency story, Season 2. So good to be back!
About this creation
Hello very-Lego-body! Guess who's fully back! Yep, I'm back. Just for Insurgency, though, so that's pretty much all I'll be doing now, so just fyi, Ig.

Anyway, since my last episode was over 2 years ago, I had to find a way to catch up to the present day, cause Dart's missed a lot of stuff, so, yeah. But anyway, this was the solution I came up with. I hope you guys like it.
Btw R.K., I wasn't sure whether to call this a freebuild or not, since technically it is a freebuild, but it's also a reintroduction of my character, so... yeah. I guess just score how you see fit.

And now, onto the story!

Darkness...

Fading...

Light...

The Insurgency 2. 1

Everything was so... blurry. Unfocused. Nothing was making any sense. What was going on?

DSC_0018

Slowly, the fog in front of his eyes cleared away. He was in some kind of hospital, it seemed. Lying in bed. It was a comfertable bed, too. Maybe he'd just stay here for a while. Maybe he'd just... go back to sleep. Sweet, sweet sleep...

DSC_0019

Suddenly he sat bolt upright. What was he doing in a hospital?!? What had happened to him? He racked his brain, trying to come up with a reason for it, but he had nothing. He couldn't remember, couldn't remember anything. What the heck was this? What was going on?

DSC_0022

Then something else caught his eye. His arm. His right arm. Lifting it up, he couldn't stop himself from gasping, just a little. He had a metal arm. A freakin' metal arm!!

"What the hell?" he breathed to himself, turning his arm this way and that, trying to figure out what had happened, and what this arm was like. It seemed to run into his shoulder and connect with his body there, somehow. But why did he need a metal arm? Is that why he was in the hospital?

DSC_0023

Looking past his arm, he took in the rest of the room. Mostly bare, except for a couple tables, and a black chest, military looking. Is that where he was? A military compound? Had he been captured? That wasn't good, couldn't be good.

Then he paused. Wait a second. Why did he think he'd been captured? Was he a criminal? If so, where were the guards? And come to think of it, where was everyone? He hadn't heard a sound aside from himself since he woke up.

And that jacket, on the table. And pants. That looked... familiar. Had that outfit been his? It looked like it had seen a lot. And it was tough, too. He could tell just by looking. Which begged the question; if it was his, was he tough? Was he strong? Was he fast? And who exactly was he, anyway?

DSC_0024

Slowly standing up, he rested his head on the bedpost, his mind a whirl. What had happened to him? Who was he? And why couldn't he remember any of it?

Forcing his mind to work with him, he slowly pushed backwards, trying to find a memory to latch onto. For a few seconds, nothing. Just blackness.

Then... wait, there was something, something coming...

"Dart."

He paused, a little uncertain, then said it out loud. "Dart." It sounded... right. Normal. He tried again. "Dart." Same thing.

Let's try something else, he thought. "I am Dart." Yep. That worked too. He was Dart. That was his name. One victory, anyway.

DSC_0025

Then his attention was drawn to the doors. A creaking, metallic sound. A few seconds later, a pair of droids came in. Medical droids, they seemed like. But what were they doing there? Had they come to check on him, or what?

It took a minute for them to notice that he was up. When they did, they slowly briefly, and Dart could see their eye lights flashing, as they processed this new information. Then the lead one spoke, in an automated, very robot-like voice.

"Greetings, Dart Reeves! I see that you are awake. That is good. You are on the road to recovery."

Dart shook his head slightly, trying to figure this out. "Recovery? Recovery from what?" But the droid continued talking, not really paying attention to what he was saying.

"Seeing as you are still not fully well, we will continue with the scheduled injections to keep your blood pressure normal, and your heart beat steady."

Dart's eyebrows went up, and his hands twitched, his muscles tightening. "Wait, what? What injections? What have you been doing to me?"

DSC_0026

Still not paying attention to him, the droid walked over to the table closest to Drat, picking up a syringe filled with clear-looking liquid. "Please hold still while the injection is injected."

Dart tried to back up but failed, bumping into the bed. "No, nonono. First, you're gonna tell me what's going on here, okay? Where am I? What's going on here? What's in that, what are you doing to me?!? Answer me, you damn machines!"

The droids both just kept advancing, saying the same thing. "Please hold still while the injection is injected." "Please hold still while the injection is injected."

DSC_0027

"Stop saying that! And keep that thing the hell away from me!" Grabbing the arm that was holding the syringe, Dart shoved the droid away, hoping to make the machine drop it.

He didn't do quite what he was expecting, though. Instead of shoving the droid away and making it drop the syringe, he just ripped the droid's whole arm clean off! Syringe and all.

DSC_0030

Stunned and confused, Dart dropped the arm onto the floor, staring at his arm. "What the... how did I... who..."

The first droid responded, in what sounded like a slightly hurt tone. "You have removed one of my care-giving limbs."

Dart looked down at the floor. "Yeah, I... I see that. Sorry... sorry about that."

The droid's lights blinked a couple times. "You are forgiven, Dart Reeves"

Dart quickly butted in. "Hey, um, can you tell me what I'm doing here, and where "here" is? And um, why do I have a metal arm?"

The droid blinked a couple more times. "You are here, Dart Reeves, because the lady brought you in. You had had your right arm removed forcibly before entering this facility, but the lady had a new one with her, and it was fitted to you accordingly. And you are not authorized to know the location of, "here". Is that helpful information to you at this time?"

DSC_0032

Dart's heart sunk. While this helped a little bit, he now had a lot more questions then answers. Who was this lady? Why did she have an arm ready for him? How had he lost it?

The droids, as if sensing that they were no longer needed, began making their way towards the open door. Dart almost didn't notice them leaving, but as they were just making their way out, he spoke, asking one last question.

"How long was I in here?"

The droid in front paused for a second, his mechanical brain whrring and clicking, searching for the answer. A few seconds later, it answered. "2 months, Dart Reeves."

With that, they both walked through the doorway, disappearing into the hallway behind it, leaving Dart behind in shock. 2 months...

DSC_0033

Slowly, Dart walked over to the table with the jacket and pants on it, and boots as well, he saw now, set under the pants. He looked at them for a long few minutes, trying to digest the new information he had. Apparently it had been at least 2 months, probably more, if he'd been doing something that resulted in him losing an arm.

He let out a long sigh. This promised to be confusing. He hated puzzles. Did he? Maybe? He didn't know. Damn it! He hated not knowing things. That he knew for sure.

Then a small smile crept across his face. The irony of that thought. Amusing. At least a little bit.

DSC_0034

A few minutes later, he was dressed in the outfit, the jacket, pants and boots, leaving his hospital clothes on the table. He had decided to leave the hood down for now, cause he didn't seem to need it at the moment. They all fit good, a little loose, though. But he had noticed while he was changing that his body, though strong and hard, seemed somewhat weak at the moment. Maybe lack of exercise, or malnutrition, anything like that. But it could be fixed, he was sure of it.

The metal arm, though, that was going to be interesting. It was stretching out the material of the jacket, threatening to rip right through it if Dart wasn't careful. But he'd deal with that problem later.

DSC_0036

Walking over to the military chest, Dart pulled off the lid, looking inside. An assortment of items greeted him, but laid on top were several weapons, including a silenced pistol and a laser pistol. A gold-inlaid pistol and a combat knife were set alongside the laser and silenced pistols. Several boxes of ammunition were underneath all that.

Dart picked up the laser pistol in his right hand and the silenced pistol in his left. They both felt good in his hands, like they belonged there. He hesitated for a moment, then started attaching the guns to his body, picking up their holsters from the chest, and going off of instinct more then anything, he eventually got everything placed on him, emptying the chest out.

DSC_0037

Looking over at the table closest to the bed, Dart saw a letter lying on it. That was odd. Not many people actually wrote letters anymore.

Walking over to pick it up, he almost stepped on the syringe, which was lying on the floor, unbroken. Picking it up in one hand, he took the letter in the other, looking back and forth between them.

The letter actually had his name on it. That was even weirder. Why would anyone write a letter to him? But he shoved it in his pocket to read later, still looking at the syringe. For a few seconds, he stood there, undecided, then shrugging, he took a syringe from the table and slipping it on the needle of the syringe, he put it in his pocket as well. Maybe somewhere else, he could figure out what it was.

DSC_0039

Turning on his heel, Dart walked out the door, his step slightly nervous, but determined. He was going to figure out what was going on here. At least, he hoped so.

1-2 HOURS LATER

DSC_0003

Dart had been wandering around this place for over an hour now. He hadn't found anything very helpful at all. Only a few messages on what seemed like the director's terminal to and from a place called The Bucket, but they hadn't said anything about him at all, just something about experimental drugs, or some such stuff. Besides, they had been dated back in july and August of 2095, so that didn't help him at all for right now.

Right now, he had found what seemed like a large courtyard, of sorts. He had decided to check it out, since he seemed to be running out of places he could keep going. He didn't know what to expect, though, hence the laser pistol, which he had reloaded to full capacity.

DSC_0005

Coming into the courtyard, he stopped dead, stunned at the sight in front of him. Everywhere else had been completely deserted, but here... dozens of deactivated droids, all kinds. Security, medical, military, almost everything ever.

But also, Dart's spirits soared when he saw what else was there. A transmitting tower, and a control station. Sliding the laser pistol into it's holster, he scanned the rest of the area and seeing nothing moving, spoke softly to himself. "Finally, some good luck."

DSC_0007

Walking towards it, Dart looked up at the control station. He could hear it humming softly, so it was still up and running, although it seemed to be in sleep mode. Hopefully it still worked well enough that he could get a signal out.

DSC_0009

Pushing a motionless droid aside, Dart walked up to the station. A black data-pad lay on the front of it, an older model, but still functioning too. Dart picked it up, wondering if it had any juice left in it.

A few seconds later, it popped to life in his hand, a few things popping up on the screen. It was asking for an username and password, neither of which he knew. But up in the corner, it listed the date. That was good. Maybe he could find out how long exactly he'd been out. He still didn't really trust what that droid had told him.

Squinting at it, Dart read it out loud. "January... something, bugger this, it's cracked... 2098?"

His breathing stopped for a moment. Just stopped. 2098? It couldn't be. It wasn't. But... was it?

"2098?" Dart whispered to himself. "Two years?" He looked back down at the data-pad, shaken badly. "Two years? Two f**king years? What the hell?" His breathing was shaky, and his hands were quivering ever so slightly. "What the hell happened to me?"

He stared at the data-pad, still trying to process this. But by force of habit, his hands eventually slid the data-pad into the same pocket as the letter. He'd figure it out later. Right now, he had figure out how to get out of this place. And it started with that transmission tower.

DSC_0011

Trying, and mostly succeeding, to get his breathing under control, Dart moved his hands across the buttons and levers, trying to get the station to work. He didn't know electronics that well, that was Jessica's job, not his.

Jessica... his hands paused for a second. How did he know a Jessica? Had they been partners? Friends? Maybe... maybe more?

Then he shook his head again, getting back to work. He could sort it out later, same as the data-pad. He had to focus right now.

DSC_0014

His hands went back to work, trying to figure out how to get the stupid tower working again. Finally, after several minutes of trying, the panels started beeping, saying that the signal was ready to transmit. All Dart had to do was to direct the signal, and that required a manual entry at the base of the tower itself.

DSC_0015

Leaving the station running, Dart whirled around, sprinting over towards the tower. Maybe he could get out of here now! Someone would come, get his signal, and come pick him up. Maybe Jessica, maybe someone else. As long as someone got it, anyway...

DSC_0016 (2)

Reaching the tower, Dart forced himself to take his time, get it right. Slowly, he adjusted the instruments, trying to find a frequency that the signal could lock onto. Slowly, carefully, had to take his time, get it right...

There! A signal! It was rather far away, somewhat close to the edge of the tower's transmission range, but he didn't care about that. It was his only option. It had to work.

The transmission screen called it "The Spire", or something like that. What was that? Some kind of space station, or something? Dart didn't know. Just hopefully, they would be able to get his message. He carefully adjusted his signal to the correct frequency, or as close as he could on his own. Then with a deep breath, he hit 'Transmit'.

A high pitched wine came out of the tower, as it booted up for the first time in who knew how long, but after a few seconds it went away, and Dart started speaking, sending his message.

"This is Dart Reeves, requesting assistance. This is a distress call, repeat, this is a distress call. We are stuck at these coordinates, some kind of old lab or hospital, with no means of transportation and few supplies. Requesting transportation off of... whatever or wherever this is. Please respond, over." He paused for a second, then added one more thing. "And please, make it quick."

He let out a deep breath, then sent out the signal, releasing it into space.

DSC_0017

Stepping back, Dart watched the panel, not sure what he was waiting for, but hoping that it would be good.

However, 5 minutes later, his hope was waning. The signal was broadcasting strongly, but there was no response, no indication that it had even been received. Slowly, Dart's hopes sunk into his chest. He'd been a fool. This place was obviously abandoned, and had been for a long time. However he'd gotten here, he wasn't getting off the same way. Or at all.

DSC_0018 (2)

Looking away, his shoulders slumped in despair, Dart's thoughts flew back, to the few things he could remember. He'd been... part of a team, he remembered that. With Jessica, and... Eric, maybe. Yeah, that seemed right. Also, he did remember a robot. Steel, wasn't it? Had that been it? Maybe. He couldn't remember anymore. His mind was empty. Empty of the last 2 years of his life. And he had no idea how that had happened, or how to get it back.

Sighing deeply, Dart just listening to the beeping of the tower, re-broadcasting his signal, over, and over again. Softly, he spoke. "Is anyone there? Jessica, Eric, Steel... is anyone left?"

So... Whatcha think?

I know I was excited for this one. It really is good to be back here. I didn't how much I'd missed all of this until I started reading everyone's stories again, just for fun, a couple weeks ago. And I realized that, I missed this. The world, the stories, and most importantly, all of you guys. You guys are what make all this so incredible. And I'm so glad that I'm coming back to do it with you guys again. I hoe that you enjoy my contributions to the Insurgency, old and new.

Now, on to the extra pics!

DSC_0040

A shot of the whole first set. This was the first part I built. The first build I've done in around 2 years. I know it's kinda messy, but I think that for being 2 years out of practice, I did okay. At least, I hope so.

DSC_0041

The bed. My younger brother gave me the idea for this design, so thanks to him for that.

DSC_0042

The other side of the room. Just basic stuff, there. Simple wall design, with an open doorway. I built way too many of those before, I remember. Gonna have to try and get away from that, otherwise I'll get stuck there. ;)

DSC_0019 (2)

A full shot of the second set. Same wall again. (Dang it!) Fun fact, I actually tore that whole wall out for taking most of my pictures there. But that's not hard to guess, is it.

DSC_0020

A shot of the station and the tower. The station, I actually kinda like it :) Idk why for sure. The tower, well, it works, Ig. Not the best at all, but it'll do, I suppose. I never claimed to be the greatest builder, after all. I just try, and see what happens at the end.

DSC_0021

A close-up of the station. In all it's glory. Or not-so-much-glory. Whichever. ;)

DSC_0022 (2)

The tower again. I'm not sure why I took this one, but here you are, anyway.

And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, returned from a land most foul, and from women most fair (when they're not trying to kill, rob, or mind-contol you), I give you...

BATMAN!

In...

The Batman Chronicles, Season 2, Part 1!

DSC_0043

Offstage - maniacal laughter

Unknown - "Muhahahaha! Muhahahahahahahahaaaa!!"

From offstage as well - Batman: "Shut up, Joker. You have nothing more to laugh about now. You're going away from a long time."

DSC_0045

Batman enters through the door

Batman: "Here we are. Arkham Asylum. Home sweet home for you, Joker. And this time, you're not getting out."

Joker (from offstage): "Oh, Basty, are you sure you have the right room? I mean, this numbering seems a little, I don't know, embellished, don't you think? I mean, back at Arkham, at least everything's so plain, and so simple, and so disgustedly boring." - imitates guard's voice - "Into the cell, Joker. Number 27. And stay there." - normal - "Honestly, Bats, you sure you took the right turn?"

DSC_0046

Batman: "Of course I'm sure. I know the way to my own..." - voice trails off as he looks around - "prison."

Joker: "Ahahaha! You're slipping, Bat-boy! What's the matter? Getting some grey hairs on that tired old head? Maybe it's time to switch it out for a new one, hmm? Wadaya say we both go shopping together, huh, how 'bout it? New faces, new voices, you know, basic necessities."

DSC_0049

Batman: "No thank you, Joker. I'll stick with the face I have, thank you very much. In fact, I like it. I like them all, of curse, but I like this one most." - mumbles to himself - "Change my face, indeed. No thank you. I'll pass." - looks around the room - "I could have sworn I took the right turn instead of the left. Oh well. Back to Gotham, I guess."

Joker: "What's that, Bats? We headin' back home? Oh, yay!" - exaggerating a sad voice - "I missed it so much!"

DSC_0050

Batman: "Shut up, Joker. No matter where we go, you're ending up behind bars, that I promise you." - starts to walk out - "We'll have to take the Bat-wing, to save time."

Joker: "Really? Oh, really? Oh, yes, yes, yesyesyes! Can I fly, please please please? Oh, I've always wanted to fly that wonderful piece of junk!"

Batman: "No, you're not flying it. You're not touching anything at all important on it."

Joker: "Please, Bats? I'll be good, I promise. I'll only hit 2 birds and shoot down one plane, how 'bout? We have a deal?"

Batman: "No."

Joker: "Please..."

Batman: "No!"

Joker: "Please, pretty please-"

Batman: NO!"

brief pause

Joker - in a pouting voice - "Party pooper."

So there you go! I hope you liked it! Both Batman, and the main story! Btw, I've decided that Batman won't be a regular thing anymore, since he can be too distracting at times (and difficult to write too ;) sometimes.), but he'll pop in from time to time. Anyway, please like and comment below. See you all later, and Allonsy!

Quoting --R.K. Blast-- Great re-intro! I'm glad that you've missed us and have decided to come back for good! As for the episode, I like the amnesia story, that'll prove interesting. The builds were simple but effective. As IAD' has said, as soon as I saw the arched door, I thought "Yup. Ben's back!" Haha! And I was wondering if Batman would be back, so I liked when he showed up, although I agree about making him less regular. Also, I'd say put a line or something between the end of the story and your 4th wall. I was a bit confused about when it had ended! Overall, a good start to your new season and I look forward to more! 5 points! --Blast--
Yeah, I need to get away from that, don't I. ;) haha. And yeah, I see what you mean about the line. I'll do that next time. Thank you for all your imput!

Quoting Philip Pip9766 Ooh, this is cool. Him losing his memory is made even cooler by me not being familiar with your series, so I know as much as he does. :P I guess I'll be learning with him. Also, I enjoyed the little aside with Batman at the end there.
Thanks, man. And I guess you will be. But all will be revealed, I promise. In time. And I'm glad you did. I like doing that bit, tbh. It makes me laugh. ;)

Quoting Captain Kenbo Fantastic reintroduction! I've caught up with your series and I feel like the overall quality of this part seems improved from the last season. Looking forward to what's next! As for the main picture you can use the simple uploader and click the first picture button which is for the main photo
Thanks for the like, man. I was hoping it'd be better. ;) And for the picture, I did already try that, but something about Java won't let me do it. It blocks every attempt, or if I just do the normal picture thing, it says it just wasn't able to download it. But I'll figure it out. Thanks again!
