Quoting Nick Barrett Made it! Thanks matt, it's a fascinating site - just spent all evening reading old articles. I'll definitely throw something together!
BRILLIANT! Can't wait to read it. Good luck! And stop in often, we get some good discussions going. We digress and sidetrack quite a bit too. ;)

Commodore Marchetti! You should totally write something man! You have amassed a substantial body of builds focused on a very specific theme. Your work is recognized at a glance my lots and lots of folks. You’ve been around the nebula enough times that people will want to hear your thoughts about… any thing! We all know you’re that guy that does the excellent birck built Trek ships… but we have never heard your thoughts on OTHER stuff. That’s the appeal of this effort. What does the Commodore think about… uh… trains? Or Lugs? Or blogs? I would love to read your input on something from outside your known area of expertise. Keiths slummy little blog is just the place for it man! Plus: every entry gets published? What? Zero standards? In a field like that… it’s going to be easy to look good (hey, I’m just being pragmatic here!). De-cloak and fire!

General Lucas! You gotta go for it man! There are literally no barriers, save your own inhibitions! Keith wants to stimulate input because we both believe meaningful conversation within the hobby continues to ebb. But for me it goes even further. I believe this trend is downright tragic! Our hobby is nothing if not a freak show… and we are all quietly folding up our freak flags and retreating into silence. That communication, that torrent of ideas from uncounted legions of AFOLs? Diverse, chaotic, argumentative… It’s our hobbys life blood man. We all know you build (and I read on a bath room wall yesterday that YOU can even think!). So share your thoughts brother. Now is the time, and the Manifesto is the place (if you would so honor us). Plus: I’m not even allowed to enter this thing… so it’s not like you will be affiliated with me. That’s a plus right?

General Werewolf! General rowntRee said he was kidding about “no poetry”. I say that one of your trademark limericks would be a waste (unless it’s a second or third entry!) These rhymes are like table scraps from your brain. Cats out of the bag man. You have complex and challenging ideas to share. Articulating those ideas? Yeah, harder than limericks. But if you have the will to organize them in a more formal manner, the value of your ideas is beyond refute man. Step up. Anything less than an essay or article is truly beneath you.

General Revanchist. Normally talk is cheap. But at this particular moment in our hobby, talk is not cheap. Meaningful talk is the coin of the realm. You know that we are correct when we say the greater dialogue of the hobby continues to recede from its past levels. The hobby does not need likes, or one word comments, or more exclusive chat rooms. We have enough forums and enough hit counters. What we need are people, (you in fact) willing to voice the ideas which you and you alone consider worth sharing. Ideas selected by the speaker, not by a marketing committee or a star chamber. In your particular case, it’s a given that you have many such ideas. For my part, I am sincerely curious to see which ones you choose to share.

MCLegoboy, good news! Your self-professed skill deficit as a reader is totally immaterial to this effort! All you gotta do is write man! You’ve been stalking these dark steam filled corridors of MOCpages for years! You’re like a janitor on the Death Star! You’ve got a huge list of “been there… done that” type insights on our hobby. Not just MOCpages, but the whole deal! What AFOLs think. How we behave. Maybe some insider stuff as well. You have got to have “stuff” to say. I’m not talking about dirt, or gripes (but yeah… maybe that too!). I’m talking about insights. Observations. Maybe ideas, or dreams for ‘the best site ever!’ I don’t know! But I do know that you gotta (actually… you “totally gotta”) have some thoughts worth sharing. I’ve seen you all over this place man! And if you don’t want to share, I bet dollars to navy beans that you KNOW SOMEBODY who does have stuff to share! Nudge them man! I would urge all of you cats to do that. Nudge the shy! Shy only means quiet, not dumb! Give them the encouragement they need (cause… they need it… cause there… shy?). I hope to see something from you man! “I don’t read much”… who cares? Write! Right?

Quoting Clayton Marchetti I saw this over on Flickr. Great idea for a contest. Plus it will give Keith a wealth of material for future manifests. Ha ha ha!
Yeah, we've been razzing him about this clever ploy to stockpile his coffers. XD Hope you're considering throwing down, Brother!

My pleasure Stuart! Different and completely open to a new take on the Lego community and how it connects. Looking forward to your juice! ewwww.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Yeah, MOCpages has always censored words that would commonly be used for unconstructive criticism of MOCs - and while that may have prevented needless drama, it definitely is frustrating to watch harmless comments suc ked into moderation. Back to the contest though, we'll see. Not really pleased with how DA was handled in the end, but this would be much less of an investment so it could be fun. Hoping to see your take on this one, you're rivalling Rutherford's wordiness at times!
Oh, I have a long way to go to even compete with the Rutherford when it come to a lack of brevity. ;) You really should consider writing, I find I'm really interested in what everyone has to say especially with a Lego connection. Heck, write about how DA was handled, Keith would welcome it. Or you can write about how I had to alter a word in YOUR comment to get this one to post. :P wow.

Really? That word is now marked for moderation? I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this point. :P You should head over there and throw down as well. You've always proven yourself well above average in the eloquence through brevity category in my book, I'd like to see you shoot your opinion Keith's way if for only a healthy rest on that proverbial tropical beach of logic in a sea strewn with flotsam and jetsam. You know you wanna! ;)

Quoting MCLegoboy !
TL;DR XDDD Just kidding! Seriously, I think you have the makings of a fantastic article. Why do our brains never want to cooperate? I keep feeding mine alcohol and it thanks me with Shasta commercial tunes from the 80s. I've tried hitting it hard and it just cries out for more alcohol. It's a vicious cycle. Throw your hat in the ring, my friend; speak your mind. I can't guarantee a win; however, I can guarantee that you can combine the words "ter" and "rible" without moderation. :P

Interesting to see a contest not focused on building, love the idea. I think Keith'll've earned a prize at the end for reading through all the submissions though, that's going to be one heck of a time commitment if it gains any traction. Hopefully results in some cool and unique entries, looking forward to seeing how people interpret it! Also MCLegoboy, the comment was flagged for the word "terrible" if you were curious.
  November 28, 2017
I am very intrigued, and yet, I know that if I enter, I will never read any of the other entries. I'm a terrible reader. I can write for days and yet I cannot keep interest in anything written by anybody else. I'll get about a paragraph in, I'll check to see how much else is written, and then I just start skimming. He's lucky I even read all the rules, there were so many things to read! See this? Terrible reader. You know how many of your comments I read in the MOCpages Help Group, or at least those from beginning to end and read every word? I don't know, maybe two, and those were the shorter comments! Terrible reader. Meanwhile, I write my own manifestos for my own posts here and in comments for everything else. Hypocrite. Do I expect anyone to read them fully? You know, I've never really thought about it, but if the number of watched minutes on my YouTube channel suggests anything, probably not a lot. And it would help in MOCpages allowed the ENTER button to be used in comments on posts and not just in groups. You know how much easier this would be to read and want to read if it was broken up into easier to digest chunks? I've tried SHIFT+ENTER, too, and it does nothing. And notice how I have switched subjects? I feel like that might just be what my entry would look like. Tangents and offshoots that go nowhere. Questions being asked, and me trying to figure out the answer in text, and then leaving it all there for the world to see how my brain works if it cared enough to read. Where's the filter? Where's the editing? Outside of grammar corrections, there is none! Maybe that's what my entry should be about, questioning whether or not to enter in the contest, making it ironic. All I would need to do is say, "LEGO," "Brick," "MOCpages," "Flickr," and other key terms often enough to make it appear on topic. What do you think, is that about a quarter of an entry to this thing? Hahaha.
  November 28, 2017
MOCpages ate my comment for moderation. I think it's because I referred to myself as one who does not practice what they preach. You know, the one about hippos. It was a good comment, too. I hope it appears soon enough.
