Anyway, I built something Sci-Fi again because I like theming. This time, it's a mini model of something that fits in the universe of the 2007 Theme: Mars Mission. I liked Mars Mission as a concept more than I did with the sets since I only ever got two of them (I'm the same with Insectoids.), and I did a little more homework with the naming this time than the last time I made Mars Mission MOCs, even the bike.
There were three M series (Presumably the M stands for Mars) in Mars Mission. MB-## for the Base, MT-## for anything strictly Land (I assume the T means Terrain), and MX-## for anything that flies (Although I have no idea what the X stands for.). This is the MX-23, a Low Atmosphere Transport. So why 23? Long time followers will remember 23 is my favorite number, but I imagine most of the numbers used for the sets were arbitrary or were possibly related to designers' significant numbers or number of prototypes before final models. Who is to really say?
So anyway, what does this Transport exactly transport. Well, it is mostly cargo, but it could act like a dropship with relatively smaller vehicles as well as carry astronauts and their drilling equipment and weapons to combat the Martians, however more capable vessels would be the MX-71 Dropship and the MX-81 Operations Aircraft. I see this more as a transport for cargo to and from bases and on occasion an orbiting craft although as the ship is designed for Lower Atmospheres it is not recommended.
Here it is fully landed. Remember any transparent stands are for displaying the model for images, it's actually more fun to swoosh around in hand than it is to balance it on those clear bars.
The quad engines are inspired by both the Raza from Syfy's canceled series Dark Matter, and the Turtle Tanker ships from Star Wars: The Clone Wars where they can move independently and allow for better maneuverability.
And I see the ship as being able to hold cargo within the ship via this loading dock in the back, as well as having a powerful magnet along the underbelly to hold larger containers similar to the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels
And here it is dismantled for the rules. (Lo, why do you make me kill my babies?)
And now it's time to get really controversial. I built extra stuff to help bring this model to life, like crates, dust being kicked up, and little loaders.
Please don't get mad.
Here we have MX-23 Transport flying more vertically into the air with a crate. The crate actually affects where the transparent bar can go so this is the best I can get without the crate half hanging off.
Here we have it about to land, kicking up a bunch of dust because of the engines.
And here we have a small little exporting area. A new base is about to be built and the crates carry a bunch of materials.
On a side note, look at all these little loaders! For only two pieces, they're pretty cute.
And now it is time for a break from hauling.
Okay, break time's over, time to get another crate from command.
Thanks for stopping by. I commend you if you clicked all those links. I went a little link crazy, although I think I have been worse in the past. Don't forget to rate and comment!
