The Flying Dutchman 6-8-8-8-6
This is the Flying Dutchman, a love-child from the love triangle of a Mallard, a Garrett and my twisted mind. It's a fictional steam powered locomotive.
About this creation
Hereby I present my entry for (OcTRAINber), in the digital category.

Some numbers:

Scale: 1/37, which gives us 3 studs a meter.
Lenght: 160 studs over the buffers or 53,3 meter.
Width: 9 Studs or 3 meter
Height: 14 Studs or 4,6 meter

Wheel configuration: Whyte: 6-8-8-8-6 or UIC: 6DDD6

Power output: 7150HP
Top speed: 219Km/h (136Ml/h)

Some history:

In 1927 the Dutch firm "the Flying Dutchman Railroad Company" was in search of a new Locomotive. The current Locomotives weren't fast nor strong enough to run the tight stressed schedules.

Due to the tight corners in the tracks a simple larger locomotive wouldn't cut it. The choice for a articulated was strait forward. To cut the fuel consumption a streamlined loc was required (The Dutch are as gready as can be).

During the second test-run the Flying Dutchman reached such a high speed that it ended up in Poland and since has never been seen again.

Soon it became obvious that the Flying Dutchman was to fast for such a small country and it was abandent.

I hope you guy's like it and please feel free to leave any thoughts and comments.
