MOCer Games Piece Challenge - A small naval history.
MOCer Games Summer 2017 Piece Challenge. Category Choices - Vehicles: 50 pieces or less.
About this creation

My entry to Piece Challenge of The MOCer Games - Summer 2017. Since the 50 items proved to be too little to build a well-known ship, I decided to make a few small models, showing the history of the development of light cruisers in the 20th century.

Basic model - light cruiser during the first world war.

What plans I had to start working - dreadnoughts, battleships, heavy cruisers! But all my dreams crashed about a limit of 50 items )))

The cruiser does not have a specific prototype. Such ships could be in the fleets of any country. For example, in this photo, I brought three color variations: the Russian Imperial Navy, the high seas Fleet of Imperial Germany, the British Grand fleet.

After the first world war most of the ships sent to be scrapped after obsolescence. But the most successful model was modernized and continued to serve. Usually they upgraded the powerplant, added anti-aircraft weapons and a catapult for launching seaplanes. Many of these ships participated in world war II, for example - the Soviet cruisers "Red Crimea" and "Red Caucasus".

The seaplane did not meet the 50 items, so this picture is out of the competition.

After the second world war, the main strike force in the ocean as submarines and aircraft. Therefore, many of the artillery cruiser has undergone a major upgrade. They altered the ships anti-aircraft or anti-submarine defence. I chose the second option - the cruiser received a combined mast-pipe, popular in 50-60 years, lost most of the artillery, instead of having extensive flight deck and hangar for ASW helicopters. Limit details enough for only one helicopter, although of course those ships were carrying more of them.

All three cruisers together. The detailing I did for the core to not load the page. but believe you me the amount of detail all the same.

Thank you for spent time on my little work ))

Quoting Nick Barrett I had no idea WWI cruisers were so long-lived and versatile. Brilliant builds too.
Me too )) I Can only remember the USS Mississippi, but it's a battleship. So it's more of a "collective image". Thanks for support!
