Mad Max's classic V8 Interceptor, updated with some more features
About this creation
Hey look, Mocpages!
The V8 Interceptor is one of my all-time favourite cars. Above and beyond looking badass in the movie, it's also based on the beautiful Ford XB Coupe.
My updated model features double-wishbone rear suspension, working steering, front suspension achieved through a springy axle, and a more detailed interior.
I've added detail to the underside, including a dummy exhaust setup and dummy drivetrain. You can also see the black bar that links the steering.
Here the full compression of the rear suspension is seen. The original car, both the XB and the Interceptor, had a live rear axle and leaf-spring suspension, which was perfectly fine for the 70s, but I've modernised the design with (rather bulky) double-wishbone suspension and big shocks.
The engine bay features a more detailed dummy engine, with the supercharger sitting high in the centre and the air filter sitting out on the passenger side in a more modern design to the classic 70s top-centre position. Technically, a supercharged engine wouldn't have an airbox/air filter like that, but given that the interceptor engages and disengages its supercharger, I figured it would have to have a supplementary N/A intake.
The interior is largely unchanged for the passenger and rear, but the driver's side now features proper pedals (and yes, the car in the movie was an automatic), as well as an adjustable steering wheel. It does amaze me how basic 70s cars were in the interior.
This was an update that reflects my expanding skill-set as a builder, allowing me to make a smoother, more function-rich model.
