Suspense! Horror! Mysterious purple liquids! This story has it all in a space setting 200 years from now!
About this creation

Ship's Log: August 10, 2217:

Found a rather large derelict vessel floating around in interstellar space today. Seemed to be from a very long time ago, and the computer confirms it's the "Innovator" from Earth, 1958: almost 260 years ago. The ship had seen better days, with a great many micro-meteorite holes and non-functioning engines. I did a life-form scan, and nothing major popped up. Ran a background energy scan, and the screen lit up. Something big, but nonliving, was on the ship, and was sending off mass energy readings off the visible spectrum of light, somewhere in the gamma range of radiation.

I have put my ship in a orbit around the larger vessel, and am planning on entering the ship tomorrow and seeing what's going on... strangely, my deep-level structural integrity scans are not penetrating the steel hull where they should, only picking up stuff in some spots where the engines and windows are.

I'm leaving my ship on a setting where if something happens to me, it's to return to the nearest space-port and alert the authorities at all costs. What ever's in the ship, I'm gonna find it!

Ship's Log: August 11, 2217:

Found the captain of the ship holding the source of the gamma energy, contained in a small flask of strange material, must be leaded glass. The captain of the derelict ship was was long dead, but was still holding the lid shut in his bony fingers. I wonder why the odd liquid glows purple... must get it to home base for more analysis. Odd thing is, I swear the fellow looked right at me when I came up on him, though it must have been my imagination.

Ship's Log: August 12, 2217:

I got back to my home space port today, and started trying to analyze the liquid. I put it the power supply room, thinking it might be safer to open it there with the lead walls (similar to the leads glass it was encased in) and perfectly sealed environment. It should be perfectly safe to open the vial now, but just to be sure, I'm going to keep wearing my space suit. I've also reset my ship to fly away immediately if anything happens, like the seal on the room breaking, which is highly unlikely to happen.

Ship Autopilot: Engaged
Destination: Earth
ERROR: unidentified mass attached to engine two, situation not critical, will make it to destination without malfunction...
