My entry to Round 5 of MELO (Wow, that sounds semi-impressive ;) ;) ;) )
My opponent and his impressively large, detailed entry!
Ahem! *cough cough* Well, this is what I came up with during this time: the "ever-so-famous" trees of Valinor/Valor or however they're called (they're in the land of Valinor, so... that's that). Telperion and Laurelin, which gave light over... everything... until an evil elf poisoned them by the use of Ungoliant, the mother of Shelob. Anyways, this is what I attempted to depict, but even with all the messy textures, I'm not sure it came out to my liking. Nevertheless, here be it.
Great choice to do these trees, and I like that you went with brick-built leaves! I especially like the one on the right :)
It was a pleasure competing against you, congrats on making it to the semi-finals! :)
Oh, this just screams "Valinor"! However, your opponent's build was larger, and as a result, showed more techniques, interesting parts usage, etc. So in the end, your opponent got my vote. thanks for participating in MELO 2017!
Truth be told, it was more lack of time-management and stability in the tree (second mostly) to hold the leaves and keep the shape. Wish I could have had more time to really detail it, but it is what it is.
Very nice work on those trunks and the landscaping! The leaves look good, but my biggest issue is the fact that the leaves as a whole are quite small. I think they ought to have been larger (part availability probably stunted you; I can understand that). Good luck in Round 5!
