Sometimes Science is a little more Art than Science, Morty. A lot of people don't get that. For the Deathmatch; Category 8: Look Again
About this creation
So this is the part where I'd be typing as if I were Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty. There was a lot of bad humor, stuttering and mid-syllable burps, but I've messed up so many times on just trying to make this page and having to start over again, I'm done caring. I think I'm actually in the mindset of Rick right now and hate everything with all its rules and restrictions. If I could curse right now without it needing to make the whole thing PG'd, I probably would. It's probably for the best though. I'd have regretted every single thing after I posted it. At least now, I'll only be mildly scarred by my poor decisions.
It's not my best work, I'm not going to lie, but that's because I'm trying to be too ambitious and I'm waiting for some pieces to arrive from Bricklink for another category. So with excuses out of the way, here's the thing.
It's an optical illusion. Optical illusions are proof that our brains aren't really that smart because our brains trust our eyes too much. We look at two-dimensional images and get fooled into believing their truthfulness. But if you study enough of them, you train your brain to recognize them faster and know not to be overwhelmed by any extra information and to think differently. These builds look like weird art, or at least I hope they do, but with a change in perspective...
Wow. After scratching my head for some time, I finally got it. And even after you get it you can still "lose it" easily, unlike most illusions. I don't know anything about the TV show, and it took a lot of head-scratching and explanation from one of the judges, not to mention the fact that it is mostly plates on base-plates, so I think it gets a 1 from me.
Uh if the judges don't get it that's on you...I don't think you explained it very well either. For the other judges: the black squares are parts of letters. The top one says u gotta get and the second one says schwifty. Also for future reference the unfriendly comments are a little unnecessary.

Nice! I don't get the illusion tho...

I don't get what the message is! Ugh.
Well, I do tell you what it says right below, so I'm not sure how you can't see it after that. If you actually don't understand the message, it's from an episode of Rick and Morty. "Schwifty" does not really mean anything specifically. A giant head approaches Earth demanding, "SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!" meaning it wants to hear an original hit song and then will leave if it's satisfied (until Earth is entered into a music reality show because of Rick's awesome song). To get the head to leave initially, Rick starts singing, "You gotta get schwifty" after appearing before the government to inform them not to launch nukes and explain what's happening. The military general is confused about "Schwifty" and the president says, "Don't analyze it Nathan! It's working," and that's really all I can say, too. Try not to over analyze it. But of course the judges don't get it, the only opinions that actually matter in a competition. No big deal.
