Just a few more new SC-style cars. Both pretty basic, but the results are decent i think - especially with the dark blue/white one.
First, the black one:
And the dark blue/white one:
I didn't have all the parts i needed for this one - Yah, i know: "Boo hoo! Work around it..."
And i did:
I just still would have preferred that at least those two white grille tiles could have been replaced with two dark blue regular tiles. But at least the lack of a standard car roof in dark blue or white helped the side profile of the car :-D
The next section is a little tutorial for those who would like to build SC-style cars but don't know how to begin.
You start out with something that looks like this:
It is only meant as a basic framework. But once you have this (or something like it. You can also make a shorter or longer base, use higher mounts (2x2 instead of 1x2) on the ends etc), you can personalise the outer layers of the car in any way you like. The possibilities are endless!
It is easier to see here how i assembled it:
And here are two ways to build the front/end parts:
If it fits the purpose, you can use two 1x6 plates on the ends in different colors for a two tone (or more) color scheme that runs the length of the car instead of the 2x6 plates used here. That's what i did with the dark blue/white car shown above.
If the gap that shows up in the corner of the wheel arches bothers you, here is a different way to build the sides:
Here too it is possible to use 1-wide plates to add to the detail of your car. Whether the side plate(s) is 6 or 7 studs long, you can use the 1-wide plates to leave space for using the 1x2 slopes, so-called cheese wedges or even sloped grilles to make air intakes or other details.
Hope you enjoyed my new cars and the tutorial. Thanks for watching :-)

Great pair of beauties! I really love the dark blue one. It really has character. Outstanding job!
Thanks Clayton! That one is a favorite of mine too. I really had problems with lack of proper parts for it, but in some ways it actually turned out better without them :-) The airplane canopy-solution and resulting low profile came about because i had no car roof in white or dark blue.
Quoting Sven ;o)
The both turned out very nice my friend :) But like the blue/white one most. Nice tutorial btw.
Thanks Sven! I prefer that one too, it has a nice side profile :-) I am not sure if the tutorial is still useful (i think most of the people who are interested in Speed Champions cars knows how to build them by now), but i have been wanting to make that for a while. I finally got around to it :-D
