"GREETINGS AND WELCOME TO COOKING WITH CHEFBOT. I AM YOUR HOST, CHEFBOT. TODAY I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO BUILD A LAMB SALAD WITH BALSAMIC GLAZE. THE SECRET INGREDIENT IS LAMB-"
The cooking show was suddenly interrupted by a different broadcast, likely the result of yet another hacking.
"We interrupt your regularly scheduled garbage with an important message," spoke the mysterious hooded figure. "For too long have the people suffered under the Galactic Imperium's corrupt rule. For too long have our rights as citizens been violated. "Peace"," the figure spat. "An impossible lie. It is time to rise up against the regime! Resist the Imperium. Stand with Aurelia!"
The image suddenly cut to footage of a building exploding in an industrial area.
"Council members," the figure continued. "Do you believe you are safe?"
"This is Wendy from the Imperium News Central, bringing you live coverage of the disaster that has occurred this morning. It seems that a large explosion has destroyed ROBKAT Engineering's largest power core factory. We are led to believe Aurelia is responsible for this violent act of terrorism. No word yet on the number of fatalities... My God... How... How could they do this?"
"A new symbol of terror has risen after this morning," spoke another newscaster. "The mysterious person believed to be involved in the power core factory bombing has gone viral all across social media. Several nicknames have been made up for this radical, the most popular being "The Red Cape". The so called Red Cape has even threatened the Imperium council in his message. Authorities have asked anyone with information in regards to the identity of the person in the video to come forward."
"This morning I am joined with economist, Biggs Fenrich. How are you this morning, Biggs?"
"Not so good, George. Like everyone I am absolutely horrified by the bombing and my heart goes out to everyone affected."
"Of course, of course. Now Biggs, you're saying the destruction of ROBKAT Engineering's factory is going to have a significant impact on the economy?"
"Yes, I am. The factory was the largest manufacturer of power cores. The cores are all important to our various vehicles and machinery and now their production will be drastically reduced."
"So what does that mean, Biggs?"
"Essentially there's going to be a lot of demand for a product that is now limited in quantity. Inflation rates are going to rise once again."
"But we are already looking at high inflation as it is. We've seen dramatic increases in poverty and slum-like camps all across the system."
"Unfortunately I don't make the rules, George. We can all blame Aurelia for this one."
Later that day, William and Dane met at a cafe.
"Have you seen the news, Dane?" Will asked with seriousness."
"Yes, it's terrible. They posted the number of people killed. I feel so bad for their families."
"What's the Imperium doing to find this guy?"
"Well they don't know anything. They don't know if it even is a guy."
Will then received a call on his communicator.
"One sec, Dane," Will said activating the device.
"Hello? What?" he said shocked. "Is he alright?"
Dane looked at Will with concern.
"Dane, I gotta go!" Will said before rushing out of the cafe.
He raced through the streets of L.A. in his hover Porsche, disregarding the speed-limits.
Will then quickly parked in the parking lot of a hospital and rushed inside.
He entered a room to find his agent, Charles Sider, laying in the bed.
"Will, you came," Charles said softly but with happiness.
"Of course buddy. You're my friend."
"Uh, well... Definitely top... Ten... You alright? What the hell happened?"
"I was driving past the factory right when it blew up. I saw my entire life flash before my eyes, Will. I didn't know if I would make it. I still don't."
"They said it's not too bad, that you'll probably be good to leave today."
"What? No, I still don't feel good!"
"You're fine, man. Just rest up, alright? The doc's gonna come back in a bit."
"You gotta find this guy, Will. The one who did this. He killed lots of people."
"I'm gonna see what I can do."
After a few more minutes, Will left the hospital.
He then went to a park and walked towards Dane sitting on a bench.
"How's your friend?" Dane asked.
"Fine, just a little dramatic."
After a pause, he added, "We need to find that bastard, Dane. Those people at the factory weren't as lucky as my friend. He needs to be brought to justice."
"I'll work on it. IIA has resources."
The two of them sat quietly for some more time.
I made this some time before Jack Brickton posted his latest episode. I didn't realize how frequently the news is hacked, it's ridiculous at this point lol :P . I named the first newscaster Wendy at the last minute since the hair is similar enough.
Wow! Great episode! Definitely a shock start. One I feel will be referencd quite a lot! I liked the editing for the TV pictures too. The sets were great and the writing was good too! Good luck in the GC!

Ha ha! Wow. That was great. I'm still laughing at the chefbot skit and then the fact of us both making an episode with hacking the news. At least my interruption wasn't as threatening... Anyways. I can't wait to see what happens next!
A great episode, with yet another mystery mask to throw into the mix! And as Jack pointed out, these news hacks are indeed plentiful. Good thing the old Knightborn News Network hasn't been hit hit yet!
