This is not my original build.... initial build by Punk Taco NYC. See it here
Loved that instructions were made. I built it, and added a few little improvements (other than the obvious color scheme changes)
- Buwizz for added power and speed
- Larger RC Tires
- PF lights
- Few drivetrain changes to reduce friction without decreasing strength of connections
Here are the meat and potatoes :) Make sure to watch the video or the presentation of this MOD will likely not mean much.
Here is one of several changes I made to the drivetrain to reduce friction (took out the thin 5L liftarm). As can be seen in the youtube video, this did not harm or weaken any of the connections but greatly increased power of the model.

Yea... given the limitations of Lego PF functions, either dealing with the motors themselves or power supply, I am fairly rigid when it comes to friction. Try to snuff it out when I can. Taking the liftarm out was an obvious area for improvement.

That thing would go anywhere! Good mods to improve it - kind of surprised the liftarm was there in the first place.
It is the
Pro-Line Interco TSL SX Spr Sawmper XL 2.2" G8 Rock F/R
(essentially, the Pro-line 2.2 Super Swamper Tire)
I got it at Hobbytown USA but they have fairly high availability in many hobby shops in the US (don't know about elsewhere).
For the rim it is not a Standard Lego rim, but is made up of genuine Lego pieces. Check out my latest MOC crawler here
or older posts of this crawler for details. The above version is by far my best and demonstrated how the rims I made can have a planetary gear system built in. This is NOT my own design, it has been done many times by many builders but I have not seen anyone use 2.2 RC tires on the rims for the configuration. Which is suprising to me. 1.9 third-party tires are used all the time but not 2.2. This is a trend that has not caught on, which I am not sure why. Bigger tires means greater ground clearance. Although standard PF motors and electronics struggle to power the beasts, there are plenty of alternatives that do a wonderful job (Buwizz, and see my Unimog). Lemme know if you have further questions.

Very good as always! The climbing abilities are amazing. 5/5. Can you please tell me where did you get the tires that fit the lego rim? (it looks like you're not using the standard lego rim though)
