LCBTC 2017 R2: Forestmen Jewel Heist
A three part story build: The Forestmen Jewel Heist!
About this creation
Built for Classical Bricks' contest: LCBTC 2017 Round 2.

Here's the challenge:
Doug Hughes vs. Justin Li:
Stealth Mission: Build an infiltration of a high-security location - the greater the stakes, the better.

My build revolves around a pair of sneaky robin hood -esque forestmen who decide to steal evil count Vladimir's magical glowing blue sapphire. That'll feed a lot of hungry peasants when sold on the black market!

Scene 1 depicts the valiant thieves scaling the ivy covered front wall of Vladimir's castle.

Up close!

Scene 2 depicts a careful traversal of the main hall right under the count's nose! Or should I say right "above..."

A difficult task involving some gymnastics skillz.

Scene 3 depicts the final challenge: stealing the gem stone by rappelling from a convenient maintenance hatch down to the small platform in the lava without being caught by the extremely tough guard. He's so tough that he doesn't even sweat in all that armor!

Careful!

The guard is none the wiser!

Scary job, but somebody's got to do it! And the forestmen are all about stealing from the rich to feed the poor. Good job fellas!

And now for some close ups of my favorite details!

The evil count and his top henchman.

Floor patterns!

Lanterns and other decorative stuff not in focus.

Vlad, his chair, and his henchman.

Two main hall guards.

A clip tree! This is a new tree technique if I'm not mistaken, and I really like it!

Main door guards. A rough lot.

The castle roof, having some fun with dark red pieces I got at bricks cascade.

More of the basement room detail.

And the glowing lava and gem at night! I do love me some power functions!

Finally, a few WIP shots for your viewing pleasure:

Sadly I broke the heck out of the main hall back wall during construction, but it wasn't too bad to fix.

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed!

Quoting Jeremy McCreary A Robin Hood-llke tale told well in a beautifully laid-out 3D triptych, Doug! Love the lava and the 4-point floor detail. Nothing brightens a day like tweaking the nose of an evil count by stealing his jewels -- at least when you get away with it.
Thanks Jeremy! Haha, yep, my friend wanted me to build a fourth scene for the escape... but I realized that was biting off more than I could chew for one contest round ;)
