MELO Round 1: Fifteen Birds In Five Fir Trees
About this creation
This is my entry for MELO Round 1!

I built this because this is is one of my favorite parts of the book/movie. And the song reminds me of the 1977 animated Hobbit movie. It took about a week to build (mostly time spent on the rockwork). Enjoy!

Fifteen birds in five firtrees,
their feathers were fanned in a fiery breeze!
But, funny little birds, they had no wings!
O what shall we do with the funny little things?
Roast'em alive, or stew them in a pot;
fry them, boil them and eat them hot?

Burn, burn tree and fern!
Shrivel and scorch! A fizzling torch
To light the night for our delight,
Ya hey!

Bake and toast'em, fry and roast'em!
till beards blaze, and eyes glaze;
till hair smells, and skins crack,
fat melts, and bones black
in cinders lie
beneath the sky!
So dwarves shall die,
and light the night for our delight,
Ya hey!
Ya-harri-hey!
Ya hoy!

Quoting Elio Salsano Hi there, The overall look is very good. Catches the mood very good. I think you can improve your trees by curving them a bit more, or add knobs (?). And the rocks look a bit weird to me this way. Someone mentioned zigzagy. It doesn't look natural. Look at pictures of real rocks for it. Greetz and good luck, Elio
Thanks for the constructive criticism! I agree the trees were pretty bad. I'll try something new next time! :)

Quoting Jonathan Demers Good work here! The rocks flow very well, and are mostly studless; something I still have a hard time with. I think the trees look quite nice as well. Thanks for participating in MELO 2017!!
Thank you! :) :)

The trees are a bit straight and the rocks look a bit funny (it's funny how, if you look at it right, the rocks seem to form a pattern of zigzags), but on the whole this is a neat build. Good luck in judging (I'm sure you won't be the one that doesn't make it to round 2).

Quoting Lego Hotwirer I don't get how guys hiding up in the trees from wolves has to do with eating wingless birds... Great build, though.
In the book the goblins sing this song when their trying to catch the 15 birds (13 dwarves Bilbo and Gandalf)

Fantastic rockwork. I have a bad habit of throwing grey bricks at a baseplate until some stick but yours looks natural and flows nicely.

Great build, I'm a big fan of how you did the rocks, and I think the tree method came out fantastic as well!
