MELO round 1 The Trebuchet
Here is my entry now I know you all are pretty confused about how this relates to a poem well here is the poem I picked 1. The Road Goes Ever On and On: The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say. So when I read this poem it makes me think of how much of a struggle in the journey and I imagine Frodo and the rest of the party hating the journey and just wanting to skip to the end so I hope the judges will let that work but poems are not my strong suit Here is the link to the group http://www.moc-pages.com/group.php/25974 Ok now to the specks of the model I know it's not colored correctly but I hope that the build itself makes up for it now it is based off of jkbrickworks original model but a few major differences are that my counter weight is full of pennies AND the base which allows the model to be more stable and throw the projectiles even further so without further ado lets get on with the photos

Quoting C Stucky I'm not sure I understand your interpretation of the poem and the colors aren't quite right (like you mentioned), but it does look pretty cool (especially if it works like it's supposed to).
It does work really well even though the color is off and the poem is just how I feel when I read it in know how long and hard the journey was and I 8magine they would've liked to just fly through it with a trebuchet or just ride the Eagles

Quoting jonnylegoboy911 . As you have acted so maturely, I apologise for any offence caused. My opening statement was meant to convey an effect before the constructive criticism began but I see now it may have been harsh. Thanks for understanding!
Im glad we now understand each other just be more careful next time thank you

Quoting jonnylegoboy911 . My comment was nearly entirely constructive criticism. The builder seemed to recognise this before anyone else commented which yields for me greater respect for the builder than a moc ever could. Your building potential relies completely on your ability to accept criticism and work forwards such that one day the comments you receive will be filled with well deserved praise. That day comes sooner when you give the builder the facts and don't pander about with niceties when you could be instilling a real passion to improve instead of stagnate at their current level. And besides the comment was on the moc, not the builder, there is nothing personal or cruel about it. I truly do wish you the best of luck honing your building skills and advise you to take every 'nice' comment with a pinch of salt so that you can continue to be motivated towards becoming a better builder.
thank you for telling me this your comment was the first negative comment I have ever recieved im glad you said that I handled it well I appreciate that but you must remember when typing you dont get the same tone you might be trying to get (hope that makes sense) for proof just read the first thing you said in your first comment without any thought of what you meant by it but anyways I appreciate your advice and please remember to be considerate about how your words convey your thoughts

Quoting Doug Hughes I'll echo the recent comments that you have created a really great MOC! This is a working mechanism which is always a challenge and it's absolutely huge! So kudos for all that! I'm glad you have realistic expectations regarding the contest, as generally aesthetic and matching the colors and thematic elements has weighed heavily on judging in the past. So no worries, if you don't move on, you can still bomb stuff with your sweet trebuchet!
yeah the goal is if im able to make it to next round i'm hoping for weapon building competition like a sword axe or other weapons from middle earth should be able to actually have correct colors and if i dont ill just shoot the other competitors with some lego pumpkins or marbels

Quoting Dr. Whatdoyoueat By far an amazing Trebuchet. I can make something that looks like one but to make an operating one is an amazing feat! I apologize for the rather harsh comment you recieved- it was unthoughtful and I can't imagine how it might've made you feel. Good job, through and through. :)
Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it

Quoting Daniel H. Yes, the color is a bit distracting, but it really doesn't bother me too much. And he could've said what he said in a much nicer way.
Thx again but I understand why he said that LOTR is probably really important to him and he looks at it as a disgrace but everyone has an opinion

Quoting Gallardo of LU I'll be candid here, the colors as noted are going to hurt the chances of moving on. that said this is a working trebuchet, and a sizable one, which with Lego can be a huge challenge to build and keep from destroying itself. on that front you've succeeded nicely. try to ignore those who would rather you fail than help you improve. this is Lego after all, a toy meant to be enjoyed by all.
Thx I'm glad someone from that group has a heart I really appreciate it and I understand the importance of color

Quoting Sir Flexalot Very good! The size, functionality, and sturdiness are awesome! The color does take away from that, and whenever johnnylegoboy comments on your post, ignore it.
Ok Thx dude I appreciate it

Quoting Daniel H. @Jonnylegoboy911 Wow, how rude can you possibly be? Seriously dude, learn to be nice for once in your life. Ever heard of constructive criticism? Well, that ain't what you're doing. Anyway, wicked build Jacob! I love it!
Thx I really appreciate that but he is right the color really ruins this moc but the build it self is solid and works great

Quoting jonnylegoboy911 . Man, this is unbelievably awful. I'm sorry but there's no other way to put it. If you even hope for a second to get to the next round you need to build something far more detailed with a decent colour scheme and something which is your own original design and does not contain non-lego parts. I hope you find his helpful...
Thx for the comment I'm sorry you feel that way but I don't have the parts or time to do anything better I thought this was cool but OK to be fair I build sy-fi things or weapons I am out of my league on this competition and as for color I don't have enough brown but as I said thx for your comment and I'm glad you took the time to look
