LCBTC Round 2: Protector Of The Island
About this creation
Here is my entry for LCBTC Round 2!

My category is: Epic Voyage: Every discovery is preceded by a journey. Build the most epic journey by sea you can envision. What that entails is up to you, but your entry should preferably include a ship.

This MOC took about a week to build. I had fun making a tropical island type MOC. It's a lot different from what I usually make. The ship isn't the best, but I think its ok for my first try. :)

Two solid builds in this matchup! There are excellent techniques in both builds, but Graeme's textures and more consistent color scheme won my vote.

This was a very close matchup and a really difficult decision. Graeme, I love the water and the raft is really well detailed! The tentacles coming out of the water look quite natural, and the whole scene works pretty well. Mountain Hobbit, the ship and sea monster are excellent! I also like the landscaping on the shore. The photography on the main image could have been slightly better, but the build as a whole is great. In the end, I think Mountain Hobbit's build both fits the category better and had more interesting details. Because of this he gets my vote. Great job both of you!

This is quite a difficult decision. Graeme, I'm impressed with the water technique, and the rough texture you gave the raft fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the build. Mountain Hobbit, there's a lot to like about your build, especially the island section, which comes together very nicely. The boat does seem a little rough around the edges to me, but the water work around the boat and the octopus is done very well, and the octopus is an eye-catcher. Your builds are very evenly matched: Graeme's greater refinement cancelled out by Mountain Hobbit's greater variety. I usually try to avoid casting votes based only on adherence to the category, but with close matches like this, that can be the only thing that brings one builder over the top. In this case, the category asked for an Epic Journey, and Mountain Hobbit's build is the more epic of the two. Mountain Hobbit gets my vote.

Quoting Lobo ~ Difficult decision, but you have my vote. I feel like you have more of a scene here, and the tropical colors really draw you in. Though Graeme's water is a bit more complex, I actually like the less cluttered look a bit better. Not a huge fan of the sea monster, but the island is well built, I'd suggest though if you have any flex tube to add it to the trees so you can bend them a bit.
Yeah, flex tubing would have looked a bit better. Thanks!!! :D

Excellent build! Lovely water, great job incorporating that entrance way into the rock, and the octopus thing is super well done... though I feel like it could use a pair of eyes. But the bright vegetation is really good!

Ahhh this looks so good, I love the bright atmosphere of the scene! Your ship looks a little blocky but good lord- it is far, far better than anything I've tried!! I love how you've included the island as well as a Kracken-esque thingy. I have a feeling you'll take the cake on this one but I've got a couple tricks up my sleeve- er vignette that I'm working on. :) We'll see but either way, this is an incredible build!

WOW! I can always admire a good seafaring MOC, as I haven't got enough water colored bricks/studs to pull it off.:P I really need to work on that... I couldn't even make a decent stream.xP I like the tree designs and the doors in the cliff-side which look like they could open. I also like the ship and that octopus is exceptional!
