Here is the poem (or song, I'm not sure which it is). From the beginning of The Hobbit
Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To seek the pale enchanted gold.
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.
(that was not the entire poem, but one of the parts that applied more to the build)
Hey everyone! Here is my latest creation Erebor from The Hobbit, (though it's not a specific scene). I'm quite pleased with how this build turned out, (though sadly with these small pictures it makes the build look really small). But, once I post it on Flickr there will be better pictures to look at. Anyway the back of the build is complete (a grey wall), but I didn't take a picture cause it seemed kinda pointless. I tried to include a lot of cool techniques to give it a nice "feel". And my favorite is the cheese slope design (I made it myself). Good luck to everyone else in the contest!
Ooo, nice one Carter! Beautiful detailing and overall design, you've done Erebor proud. Also, in looking more closely at the gold stuff lying everywhere, I have to commend you on your dedication to making most, if not all of it, actually placed on studs so that it won't slide around. I certainly would not have gone through the extra effort, but you get a big salute from me for achieving this: O7 The sand green sections are a little distracting and may not be very true to the movie, but I will say that everything else is superb. Stonework, random piling of gold, and artistic details (like the windows and grates and the occasional wall detailing)... all top notch elements. Kinda makes me glad to not be a part of the contest ;) Anyways, well done and God bless! ~Promar~
Awesome Carter! I love it! The floor design on the top looks great, along with the sand green pillars, and the gold lying around! One thing is I am not overly fond of the stair section or sand green section kinda randomly placed in the mix of other stonework... Other than that, great work! :D
Brilliant build Carter! A number of things stood out to me: the decorative details like the cheese wedge mosaic and the gold lines in the wall, the clever window piece usage, the angled wall, and the subtle and organic addition of some dark bley. Love it!
