Blind Collaboration Pt. 2
About this creation

Well, having drunkenly agreed to partake in this endeavor after three or so BlackSmiths (Guiness and Smithwicks and all delicious) at the Ren Faire earlier this year, I actually really had some fun with this little tyke.

Of course the piece count limit of around one hundred, give or take, was difficult to keep tabs on as having hosted several contests with similar constraints, I definitely knew that blowing through them would take zero effort. But Heath made it much more difficult than that.

Pt.1, which you can see HERE , also happened to have very few connection points. Truly a brilliant mask filled with an abundance of character, and a welcoming challenge to boot.

Poring over his build for about two weeks, I kept coming back to the idea that the two black pieces forming the chin reminded me of bug eyes. I don't know why, and frankly I don't think I want to. But, there it is. I saw a bug. A mean one too with pincers and big ass teeth in a Predator-esque lateral mandible. Why the hell not?!

And to that, I give you Pt.2 of The Blind Collaboration.

Quoting Werewolff . Very nice! Interesting to see what direction a build can go in...often it's not what you quite expect :D
Thank you Wolff! I agree, but that's when it becomes more fun. ;)

Quoting Nick Barrett Something like that clamping itself to your face is the stuff of nightmares... awesome idea and build!
Thank you Nick! The irony of it starting as a face is not lost here. ;)

Quoting Henrik Jensen Whoa! what a nasty little critter :-) , but a brilliant change to the mask creation. Like others I really like the eighths sphere pieces for the bug eyes.
Thank you Henrik! My main goal was to transform it without any alterations to the mask. As soon as I saw those black pieces, I really couldn't get the notion of bug eyes out of my head.

Quoting Oliver Becker Sweet little genius beast, Matt! Now: Don't believe there are matching flyswatters if it get's to intrusive... ;)
Thank you Oliver! That swatter may have to be a 12 gauge for this little scamp. ;)

Quoting MCLegoboy ! That's some scary looking samurai scarab.
Thank you MC! Samurai scarab, I think that has a lot of potential as a cartoon. Aku may have a place there. :D

Quoting Doug Hughes Ha! A beer driven Japanese bug mask?!? This is a great build, lots of excellent techniques and color work!
Thank you Doug! Beer and Japanese bug masks, sounds like a fun time to me! A little bit kinky and weird, but fun. :D

Quoting Jonathan Demers What Noir said. I also really like the turntable pieces for leg armor! Great snotwork too! Good build man!
Thank you Jonathan! I love the texture of the turntable pieces, seemed like a lighter leg part than a solid chunk of Lego. As for the snotwork, that is 100% Heath Flor. He really stepped out of his comfort zone brilliantly here, check him out. http://www.moc-pages.com/home.php/25189

Quoting Bricks Noir Awesome. One of the best uses of those 1x1 tooth parts that I've ever seen.
Thank you Bricks! I lugbulked a bunch of those with absolutely no idea of what to do with them, thought about decoration for the Eyrie I was going to build for Game of Thrones. That didn't happen so I made the teeth, well, teeth. Other than that, they're really not very useful.

Quoting Clayton Marchetti Kabuki theater! The mask is just brilliant ,and I love the bug aspect as well. Those eyes are cool.
Thank you Brother! Heath did an amazing job on the mask, he really deserves most of the credit for the direction I went with this. Including the drunk part. ;)

Thank you Cab! My sole intent was to transform it into something completely different without changing a thing.

Quoting VAkkron Thougt my comment would get moderated. But still... You turned the... You turned the... What the H**L? Matt, I thought you were a genius, but now it's kind of doubtless. I just have to say, wouldn't want to be the next guy in line. Pour yourself another bottle, this bug deserves a toast!
Thank you VAk! I am certainly no genius, and I know many that would agree. ;) But I will certainly raise my glass for any reason. Cheers!
