This picture was taken at the Brick Railway Systems railroad yard in Winslow, Arizona from atop the steam locomotive coal tower early in the morning sometime in summer 1972.
About this creation
The picture depicts a newly repainted ALCO diesel MRS-1 coming into the diesel refueling depot to be filled up with fuel for the days work. The tanker over on the road has already replenished the stock of fuel in the depot's underground tanks while the truck driver climbed up onto the coal tower and took this shot.
Here is the screenshot straight from LDD, without any fancy editing stuff added.
(NOTES: The BNSF really has the main line run through Winslow, and their was a servicing facility for Santa Fe steam locos in the city. Once the diesel's took over however, the facility was moved to Barstow, California, and Winslow was relegated to a crew change point until the famous Eagles/ Jackson Brown song from 1972 "Take it Easy" put Winslow back on the map. Thus this picture and it's background info is fiction with a grain of truth. Also, the diesel is inspired by Anthony Sava and his instructions can be bought here: www.bricklink.com/store/home.page?p=AggieSava&itemID=... while the gas pumping station is originally built by Lazarus Bit's and can be bought here: www.bricklink.com/store/home.page?p=lazarus992&itemID... )
