FDCB opted for a tiller to serve as US&R 2 due to the vast array of equipment this apparatus carries. Some special equipment on this rig include acetylene torches and a Res-Q-Vac system.
About this creation
Like the rest of the apparatus at Station 2, US&R 2 is on the Pierce Quantum chassis. It has a raised roof to provide firefighters with more room.
The body of the apparatus shows the large compartments to store all the gear. You can also see the 30-ton Nation Crane.
Rear shows the compartment for plywood. Unlike the other tillers that FDCB employs, wood beams are stored here instead of the typical ladders and pike poles. The wood can be used for trench rescue and collapse rescue scenarios.
The crane is able to rotate 360 degrees and can lift up to 30 tons.
Details on this rig include the B-column window, curved engine tunnel, curved bumper, and the raised roof.
US&R 2 is a 2017 Pierce Quantum tiller heavy rescue. It is equipped with a 56 ft. 30-ton National Crane, a Res-Q-Vac system, a full complement of shoring equipment, and much more!
