Through the Shadowlands...
One day the veil of this world will be pulled back and we will gaze into eternity...
About this creation
Hi y'all!
This build is a sort of memorial creation made for my Grandma who passed away a short while ago. While it is a sad time, we do not mourn because we know for sure that she is with her Savior and Lord in heaven having the time of eternity. We look forward with eager expectation for the great reuniting that will occur when we leave behind this world.

The title is a reference to C.S. Lewis' comparison of this world to what is to come. A shadowland that serves as the intermediate and temporary dwelling of all people. Here on earth, we often get a look into both the eternal glories of heaven and the horrible torment of hell. We enjoy amazing blessings, wonder, and elation, and experience terrible pain, loss, and grief.

The reality of hell is a terrible one. It is a place of complete and total separation from God and every good thing, whether characteristic or blessing, that comes from Him. Because we have sinned against God and broken His perfect law, we have been disqualified from attaining eternity with Him and are bound for just and horrible punishment as a result. And yet, there is hope…

Even though we sinned against God with both our hands and our hearts, though we did everything possible to throw off His authority and remove Him from His right place of Lordship, though we proclaimed ourselves “gods” in charge of our future and strove to remove all reminders of God from our minds, God still choose and eagerly desired to show His love to us and to provide the way of escape from hell.

God loved us to such an indescribable degree that He gave His Son Jesus Christ, who was 100% God and 100% man, to come to earth, to live a perfect life and to die in your place and in my place as the pure sacrifice of atonement, the payment for our sins, in order to provide the way to be right before and with God. The impossibility of attaining heaven was made possible only through what Christ did for us. He who said “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father except through me”, holds out the free and amazing gift of salvation to any and all who will believe that He is the Messiah sent to save us. Through His death on the cross and His miraculous resurrection from the dead, He has conquered both sin and death forever. That is the hope that I cling to and the peace that carries me through each day.

In the face of such patient kindness, wondrous mercy, and amazing love, will you repent and accept Jesus as Savior and Lord? He who has prepared a lasting and beautiful place in heaven for us is coming again to take us who have believed to be with Him forever, will you trust Him with your life? As time begins winding down and the days rapidly pass by, the day comes ever closer when I will leave this earth. Death is for certain, but have you experienced the true life, joy, and peace that can be found only in Jesus Christ?

“For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” - John 3:16

This is the secure hope that I have…

To God be the glory!

Quoting John Klapheke So this is quite Providential that I should see this MOC...my grandmother passed away quite recently too. Actually one day before you posted this MOC. I am very sorry for your loss, Promar. Know that prayers for her and your family are on their way. :-) And your testimony to the Faith is remarkable. So beautifully worded and put. Might you possibly want to be a pastor-architect-Lego-builder? :D Speaking of building, the build is great. Really ace job with the forced perspective. Prayers and God's blessings. -John
Thanks for stopping by John, I appreciate your support, prayers, and encouragement. We are having the memorial service for her tomorrow and my greatest wish (as hers would be) is that the gospel in all its wonderful fullness would be proclaimed throughout it. Who knows? God's got a plan for my life; if it includes full-time ministry, I would drop everything and go for it. Either way, God's given me a heart for the lost for a reason, I'm willing to use it regardless of the capacity that He calls me to perform it in... May the loving arms of Christ wrap both you and your family up in the peace that transcends understanding and the hope that will not disappoint. God bless, ~Promar~

Nice build! You made the backdrop look so much farther away in the main picture. I am amazed at how you did that!

You must really like forced perspective. But amazing nonetheless!

The forced perspective makes this build looks waaay bigger than it actually is. The sky, although it may be very busy, it works so well with the toned down colors of the rest of the build. Plus the Gospel message on top of that makes it 6/5 in my book.

Quoting Roanoke Handybuck Wow! Awesome! The scene is great! The rockwork is very well done, and the sky is just incredibly done! The clouds on the sky are a great addition! Keep it up! :D
Thanks Roanoke! That's a lot of exclamations... ;)
Quoting Lego Dude Wow. Great job. You always make the prettiest sky!
Thanks Dude, I guess that I've found my niche as it were...
Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus Big P.'s classic great sky, never quit making these please! Sad to hear about your relative, but great art can not be created without great suffering.
Well said Big D. I will endeavor to never stop :) Thanks!
Quoting Alex Rode My condolences. Beautifully shaded - sets the perfect tone for this creation.
Thanks Alex! It was my first time doing anything like this, so I'm glad that it turned out fairly well.
Quoting MCLegoboy ! Forced perspective done right.
Thanks MC, I'm glad you think so :)
Quoting C Stucky Amen, Brother. I've been a Christian for 13 years of my 17 years of life and I still marvel at the grace and mercy of God Almighty. Let us rejoice in his goodness, even as we mourn our losses. Great build to go along with the clear presentation of the Good News!
Thanks Stucky! Fantastic to hear, I'm going on 13 years as well (14 as of June). Amen! Like I've said on my home page, I want my obsession with Lego to be used for the glory of God and the furtherance of His kingdom. I'm reading through Revelation right now and just got to chapter 21 this morning. Wow, I simply can't wait to be with Christ :D
Quoting LegoPredator ! Great job on the forced perspective!
Thanks LegoPredator! I love doing things like this, especially since the end result tends to use less bricks ;)
Quoting matt rowntRee Well done on the forced perspective! To be honest, I actually love the last pic more with the upward angle on the figure; it gives it more of a progressing presence in the composition. Outstanding! And my condolences to you and your family for the loss.
Thanks Matt! Yeah, I thought about using it for the main pic, but wasn't sure about the angle of it... Again, thanks.
Quoting High Emperor Duckie Wow. That build... It's… awesome. And the description. You should join the Guild of Writers! I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my grandmother at a very young age.
Thanks Emperor! We've got an awesome God who provides the inspiration for things like this :) A writers guild, eh? I could only really do that if my writing exclusively had to do with my faith in Christ. I'm a fairly poor writer on all subjects save for the one that I'm most passionate about (and you've probably gleaned which one that is from this creation). Sorry to hear that. My Grandma was the last of all my grandparents. Both my Grandpas passed away before I can remember and my other Grandma passed away back in the early 2000's. Unfortunately, we know only that my one Grandma was a believer...
