On board an Imperial Star Destroyer, Commander Noor was engaged in a conversation with one of his leaders via a hologram.
"The war on Melidaan has entered it's eleventh month, Commander Noor."
"An Imperial victory has not yet been achieved?" asked Noor pretending to be shocked.
"The Emperor is getting impatient. If we cannot capture the planet within the month, he wants us to withdraw. Do you have any suggestions?"
"Reinforcements?" Noor said timidly.
"We've sent them several times already. We need an edge. Something... Or someone that could give us a tactical advantage."
"Then why doesn't the Emperor dispatch Lord Vader?"
"Lord Vader is dealing with more pressing matters at the moment."
"Might I suggest Venick Ackridger?" Roan Cross said entering the room.
"Roan!" Noor snapped. "Sir, I apologize for this interruption."
"Who is this "Venick Ackridger"?" asked the hologram.
"An impulsive, womanizing idiot," Roan interrupted Noor. "But also a guild bounty hunter. I have been following him for some time. He was born on Melidaan and has extensive knowledge of the planet along with training from the Imperial academy. Perhaps he could help us reach a victory."
"Are you sure, sir?" asked Noor.
"I am desperate. If Agent Cross believes he can help, use him."
With that the hologram shut off.
"Roan, how could you suggest hiring Ackridger?! After what he did to me?!"
"They're running out of time on Melidaan. He could help."
"But I... Hate him!" Noor exclaimed.
"I'm sure you two will be able to work things out."
"Contact him," he said defeated.
The transport carrying reinforcements embarked for Melidaan.
Inside, Noor, Venick, and a garrison of Stormtroopers anxiously waited for their descent onto the planet.
"I'm so glad you guys thought of me for this," Venick spoke to Noor. "I really like that hat too. It's almost like a helmet but with the front cut off. It seems really versatile. I think that's awesome."
Noor groaned loudly.
"How much longer?!"
"Approaching the drop zone, Commander," spoke the pilot over the intercom.
The shuttle landed at the Imperial base. Everyone was rushing about preparing for the next battle.
"We must speak with General Dion," Noor told Venick. "Then we can plan our next attack."
"I've never fought in a war before," said Venick. "Have you?"
"What? Of course I have, I'm a commander!"
"If you say so."
The command center.
"Captain Jorm, I must speak with General Dion," Noor said.
"General Dion was killed three days ago. I've assumed temporary command," said Jorm.
"Under whose authority?!" Noor asked.
"Under my own. What is he doing here?" Jorm asked looking at Venick.
"This is bounty hunter, Venick Ackridger. He will be providing his... Services."
"I never forget a face," Venick said with a smile.
Jorm wanted to say something to Venick but changed his mind.
"So what support did you bring?" he asked Noor.
"An entire garrison and three tanks. I saw your walkers on the way here so that should be enough to defeat them! Right?"
"I hope so," Jorm spoke.
"Now brief me on the current situation," Noor told him.
Jorm brought up a holographic map of the planet.
"The insurgents have heavily fortified the capital city of Huran. They are being led by Adan Walther. He was... One of us..."
"What do you mean "one of us"?" Noor asked.
"Adan was a Stormtrooper here with us on Melidaan but in the early days of the war he joined the rebels. He organized them and told them how they could fight us since he knew everything about us."
"That's... Unfortunate," Noor said frustrated. "Tell me about Huran."
"We already tried a full frontal assault but failed. They have anti-vehicle cannons which destroyed all the TIEs we had and half our walkers. We lost the General in that battle too."
"So you can't take Huran with those cannons still functioning?" Venick asked.
"That's right," said Jorm.
"Then we take them out," said Venick.
"I didn't want to risk any more troops in an assault on those cannons."
"You don't need to send in an entire battalion," Venick told Jorm. "Send in a small unit to infiltrate the capital and take out the cannons."
"I hate to admit it but the hunter is right," Noor said. "Take him and whoever else you want to do it," ordered Noor.
"Me?" Jorm asked surprised.
"Yes, you! I am in command now!"
"Of course, sir. Come on, hunter."
Jorm and Venick went to find the best men for the job.
"Chaps, Borok, I've got a mission for you," Jorm said to them.
"But we're on break!" argued the one without the helmet.
"There are no breaks in war!" Jorm yelled.
"What are we doing?" asked the other Stormtrooper.
"The four of us are going into the capital to take out their artillery."
"Who's this fodder?" Chaps asked looking at Venick.
"Venick Ackridger," Venick replied. "It's your pleasure," he said with a grin.
"Great," said Chaps.
The four of them made their way into the capital.
"You know I grew up in Huran," Venick talked to the Stormtroopers. "It wasn't this bad when I left."
"This is what those rebels did," Jorm said.
"You never came back here?" Borok asked Venick.
"Never really liked Melidaan. I wanted to leave since I was a kid."
"Did you hear that?" Chaps asked stopping in the middle of the road.
"Stay sharp," Jorm instructed.
Two insurgents sprang from their hiding place and fired at Venick and the others.
“It's the rebels!" Borok yelled.
The Imperials were able to defeat them.
"Let's keep moving," Jorm said.
"You sure this is the quickest way to the capital?" Chaps asked.
"Yeah. But we gotta make a quick stop first."
"Stop? For what?" Jorm asked.
Venick led the group to a rundown building.
"I used to live here," he said.
"We don't have time for this!" Jorm yelled.
"Come on, Jorm. Let him do this," Borok spoke softly.
Venick pushed open the doors.
The group looked around. The house was in the same ruined condition as the rest of the city.
Venick went towards a closet.
"Come on, still be here," he said to himself.
"Ha!" Venick said happily as he pulled out a crate of gear. "One of the few things I liked about this place."
"You played lightball?" Chaps asked.
"Almost went pro," Venick replied.
"Glad to see you reliving your memories but we need to go," Jorm said.
"Alright, we're almost there," said Venick.
When the came out of Venick's home, they were stopped by a group of rebels.
"Stop!" yelled one of them.
"Look what you've done," Jorm muttered to Venick.
"Let's take 'em!" Chaps yelled firing his rifle at the rebels.
The each picked their targets. Venick took out his by lobbing a lightball at him hard.
"Woohoo!" he shouted. "And Ackridger takes the winning shot!"
"Everyone alright?" Jorm asked after they had killed the rebels.
"Just a scratch," Borok shrugged.
Suddenly Jorm's comlink was activated.
"Captain, have you taken out the cannons?" Noor asked over the comlink.
"Well you'd better hurry! We're moving on the capital. Those cannons better be down when I arrive!"
"Blast!" Jorm yelled after he ended the transmission. "How far away are we?" Jorm asked looking at Venick.
He pulled up a holo-map.
"The first one is just up ahead. The other three are not too far apart. To take them out in time, we're gonna have to split up and each blow one."
"Alright, let's move men!" Jorm said. "Take your charges and destroy those cannons!"
The rebels stood watch, guarding the cannons from the enemy.
Chaps took out all the guards with precision.
"Cannon one secured," he said over his comm. "Ready to detonate."
"I'm ready with cannon two," said Jorm.
"Blow them up, guys," Venick said. "Then I'll do mine. Where's Borok?"
"I'm havin a little trouble here, guys," said Borok firing at the rebels but missing.
Borok was hit and fell to the ground.
"Agh! I'm hit!"
"Borok's down," said Venick. "They know we're here! Go back to the base," he ordered Jorm and Chaps.
"What about you?" Jorm asked.
"I'm taking out that last cannon!"
Venick ran to Borok's cannon.
He quickly eliminated the rebels and made his way to the cannon.
“Last cannon secured,” Venick said. “About to detona-“
Venick was knocked out by a rebel before he could destroy the cannon.
