My first creation of 2017! I decided to do something for the latest LUGnuts challenge: Supercars vs Muscle cars! The goal is simple: the endless debate between raw power and super handling is a known thing in the car culture: recreate this in one or two cars.
This one couldn't been more obvious. I think the Challenger Hellcat is the purest form of muscle car around these days. It can barely handle the 707(!) horsepower that Dodge gave this RWD monster. It was also square, which meant it's easy to make in LEGO!
...How wrong was I. It's the slight curves that makes the styling special. This meant that the entire side is made out of SNOT systems. It was a pain in the *ss if you ask me. Nevertheless, I didn't want to give the project up, so I continued with it. And it worked! The front worked perfectly imo, while the rest of the car can just blend in. I like it!
The rear is not the best part and I know that. But it has to do like this. Also, door interiors, because SNOT. Noice!
And a big trunk.
Interior in a hideous color but this was the launch color for the Hellcat. The interior was simple, made in about 10 minutes. Love 'em American simplicity.
No bonnet but I do have an engine, because you can't not have an engine. Bit cramped, because everything in the front needs to make up for stability.
I like how the doors and other things open on this car. These details are the sort of thing that I try to include in my spaceships. This muscle car has such a flat front: obviously the engine powers it through!
