A Mighty Fortress...
...Is our God.
About this creation
Hey all!

I've had this build sitting on my display cabinet for about three weeks now, I figured that I should go ahead and share it with you all.

I was convicted recently about my "harmless" addiction to Lego. While Lego in and of itself is not bad, it has been a large draw on my free time outside of work and family life. While some may not see that as a bad way to spend one's time, I've reached a point at which I believe that there is a better way/place to direct my efforts...

Now don't have a heart attack just yet. It is my goal to spend what time I do invest in Lego as a more devoted way of sharing my faith in my God and His Son, Jesus Christ our Savior. While I do not foresee myself utterly forsaking non-biblical/Christian themed builds, I want to spend more time doing what I'm passionate about, that is, sharing the good news Gospel of what Christ has done for us.

In celebration of this decision, I wanted to put together something special that relates to one of my favorite hymns by Martin Luther: "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" or
"Mächtige Festung ist unser Gott" in his native language. And indeed He is. The One who created the entire world from nothing with just His Word, the One who holds it all together in the palm of His hand, the One who knows each of us by name... This One is also able to protect and provide for our every need.

"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone in my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken." (Psalm 62:1-2)

This same God sent His Son Jesus to earth to die on a cross for the sins that you and I had committed against Him. He who had no sin died for the sins of those who were self proclaimed enemies of God. His sacrifice paid the debt that we owed to God and enables us to be made right in His sight. But that good news doesn't end with Christ being laid in the tomb. The same One who made you and I, who formed the heavens and the earth with His Word, that same one raised Himself from the dead, defeating it and sin forever and ever. He's even now preparing a perfect and eternal place in heaven for all who accept what He did on the cross for us and who accept His rightful place of lordship over their lives.

This is why I can sing with all the conviction, joy, and solid hope that I can muster "A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing..."

May the light of Christ shine forth and reach the darkest corners of this world with the love, hope, peace, and joy found only in the powerful Gospel.

God bless you all,

I really like the shaping of the rock and base! The build kind of looks tropical which I really like. Neato work! As well as a great message behind the build ;)

Promar, first off, what a great message that you've incorporated into this MOC. Just wonderful; it is comforting to know in times of distress that we have a truly mighty fortress. MOC-wise, well, it delivers a great message, too. Use of the 1x2 sand green plates is always a crowd-pleaser in my book and the way that you've built that roof is just ace. Splendid work sir. My apologies for not having commented more - - life has been busy to say the least as I conclude my college hunting. Now to prepare for the hurdles that lie ahead... Once again great job on the MOC! Happy building and God bless! -John

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus This looks pretty good. Does the triangular base have all the angles at 60 degrees?
Thanks Deus! Sorry, it's a scalene triangle that fits around the scene. Since it was a last minute addition, I had to make it work. Plus, Geometry wasn't my strongest subject in high-school ;)
Quoting Subic Vedran Roof is interesting.
That would be a good way to put it ;) I hadn't ever done a round roof before, so this was an experiment. It's a bit messy for sure, but I think that it works okay. Thanks!
Quoting Hildigrim Took Wow, really nice work! This is probably my favorite build from you, keep up the great work man!!
Thanks Hildigrim! I'm wishing that I had more dark gray pieces to make the rockwork better throughout, but at least I did some of it okay. Thanks for the encouragement! God bless, ~Promar~
