2016 MO R2: City Creator vs. LukeClarenceVan: Medieval Meets Modern
Bookends - Design a pair of wickedly cool bookends. Show them off holding up your library of Barbie Fairy Princess books, or whatever you read.
About this creation
Built for the 2016 MocOlympics.
My amazing opponent's page.

Both bookends are textured and detailed on all four sides. The "ugly" sides (the bit with dark bley on the castle, and the sticking out panels on the modern house) are hidden by the books.

Fun fact: The castle is hollow, so it doubles as a pencil/pen/bookmark storage. I might actually keep this MOC built for a few days.

Thanks for viewing! Best of luck to my opponent! Constructive criticism appreciated.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Despite the result, I am still happy that I made it this far. Thank you judges, and it's been a pleasure competing.

Great idea brilliantly executed. I just had to go with Luke's because it was so odd. These here however are definite keepers. Awesome job, City!

While you made some nice bookends, your opponent's clean builds and great concept edged it out and took my vote. Good work and thanks for participating!

Oh my goodness, I just watched the movie of Roth's Divergent on TV yesterday! Looks like you have some fun reads nestled between those ends. I like the fact that the medieval end is walled off and closed and the modern is bright letting in the light and open to all... definitely food for thought! :)

Nice work on this - Unfortunately, for this round, I gave my vote to your opponent due to his obscurity of reference material and out of the box look to his book ends. Good Luck with the other judges!

Quoting Chris Phipson The Hobbit and physics. Good choices and good luck! ~ Chris.
Wow, you almost had me scared for a minute when I saw your comment in my activity bar. I thought it was you voting for someone, but then I realized you aren't judging my bracket.

Quoting VAkkron Generally, contrast is not a theme used to make bookends. It is often a scene that continues on both sides. With that being said, I really like your idea! Great work CC.
Thank you for your kind feedback.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Very cool build! I'd actually considered doing the same theme, but didn't have enough window pieces to do it justice - I'm glad to see the concept realized. Nice work!
Best of luck to you!
