Briefing room

Teresa Johnson's face was an impenetrable scowl. An expression matching her situation. Her new black and blue armor glittered in the fluorescent lighting above her head. Guilt, anger, and sadness struggled inside her heart as her thoughts were continuously going back to dwell upon a single, devastating fact. The entirety of her old squadron was dead. Slaughtered in the attack on the Ambassador's palace, Less than four weeks ago. Many of them had died getting into the palace itself, the high walls of the palace preventing easy access to the interior. The rest were killed by mages or Collective traps and ambushes.

She was the only survivor. The letters she had to write after the battle tore at her, and the almost emotionless words she had used in those letters to distraught and fractured families.

She shook her head, clearing her thoughts. This wasn't important. She looked at the crowd of newly assigned or reassigned soldiers, their faces eager or worried or neutral.

She cleared her throat and then spoke. "Alright, boys and girls, the situation isn't great down on the surface. At approximately..."

Qoter

Pax Aurelian transport ship 'Turanga' over Regentis

Date: September 5th, 2016

Captain Murphy Alamance felt the eager thrill of upcoming conflict rush through his veins and he smiled a little, much of it being concealed by his bushy brown mustache. "Listen up, ya pansies!" He exclaimed gruffly.

The small squadron of Pax Aurellii looked at their commanding officer, their conversations ended. Alamance nodded before continuing. "The situation on the ground's escalating. The Trues have control of the tunnel entrance to 'Old Qoter' as they're calling it and command believes the enemy will attempt to use it to their own advantage. Our task is simple: Help the G.I retake that tunnel and either destroy or capture the True Aurelian forces. Any questions?"

The Pax Aurellii said nothing. There wasn't much that confused them about this brief and simple explanation. Alamance nodded briskly. "Well then, before we get to the plan, we have a new member I'd like to introduce."

Alamance stepped aside as a man wearing white and red armor entered the room, a laser rifles held in his hands and a sword across his back. He stopped before Alamance and nodded respectfully. Though it was barely an inclination of his helmet. "Captain," He said quietly.

"Might I introduce, Lancer Corporal Vulpes."

Vulpes nodded again and looked at the group of Pax Aurellii. "Vulpes, say hello to what's left of the 35th attack brigade. The lady here on my left is Sandra Burns, my second in command, then the lady next to her is Brenda Turner, or 'Sonar' as she likes to be called. Then there's Ichtar, the alien with the jetpack, then behind him is T'chala'nak'be. We just call him 'Tiny'. Then there's the fish head here, Tu'bach. And, finally," The captain paused and sighed shamefully. "this is Hilean, or 'Bait' as we like to call him."

The Pax Aurellii nodded, waved, blinked, or simply did nothing as they were introduced.

"So, anything you'd like to say before we go over battle plans?" Alamance asked as he hefted his rifle onto his shoulder.

"Just this," Vulpes said, his tone neutral despite the rush of excitement in his blood. "who do I shoot?"

Fourth wall:
Well... wasn't this a cheesy little episode? Anyways, I'm a bit pressed for time if I want to make the deadline for the crossover, so no 'behind the scenes' today. I'll see you guys later, after I get my part of the crossover with Quartz Roolz up.

Quoting --R.K. Blast-- Good tie-in. We can tell that you're pressed for time though, it does feel rushed and the set is clearly the same. Also, only a handful of people know what's actually being fought over, so your commander wouldn't know about Old Qoter. But it's still a nice tie-in and I look forward to seeing what happens next! Your points have been added! --Blast--
My apologies.
