I Used the Model I found on Eurobricks.com by Missing Brick. Wow, he did a fantastic job. And the hanger bay is incredible- wasn't going to even attempt that. Almost everything I tried to make improvements on didn't work out. I like my version of the cockpit canopy and the thrust vectors but that's just my opinion. I had his example and it still took me months to complete. It was very difficult to make all the arms swing properly and fit into place when closed. His version of the landing gear looks better but I wanted to make working landing gear. That was a real challenge. A little bulky but it works great and supports the weight of this monster.
If you were wondering-No way around it. The rocket pod arms cannot support the weight of the rocket pods on the ends-I ended up cheating and used Kragle. I know, I know. As you can see, I also used home made decals which are not Lego but it made me happy. I've built a lot of Lego model, some pretty large, but this was the most difficult. It will be a while before I take on the challenge like this again.
Thank you for your kind comments. Unfortunately when I build, I figuring things out as I go, making changes to get just the right look I am going for. I could take more detailed photos and send them to you if that would help?
May I ask if you have a LDD file for this and the APC or a parts list you might be willing to sell? I'm long time Lego fan and I'm just getting back into it as an adult and am trying to build this set. I'm just not quite sure where to start and what I need. This awesome and it is great work!
Hey, Missing Brick here, just came across this. Great job! You've made some great improvements on my design and the decals look super. Yes those folding missle pod arms are a problem - I supported mine with nylon thread for the photos. Best Regards
