My Round 3 entry for the Mini MocOlympics! My category was Fire. Of course when I saw the category I wanted to build when Smaug attacks Lake-Town, but I then decided to take a different route. I decided to build a scene from the short story, "To Build a Fire" by Jack London. It is about a man and his dog during the Klondike Gold Rush. The man is walking over a frozen river when he accidentally falls through the ice. He has to build a fire to warm up his leg or else it would freeze. Although he only successfully keeps a fire alive for a few seconds, I decided to build this scene. His fire keeps getting put out, so he ends up dying while running back to camp.

Well done Sam. I really like the high quality of the builds that you've been putting out recently. Nice rockwork here, I love the use of those "valley" pieces. The tree makes an excellent vertical highlight, especially with the dark red coloration of the leaves. And yes, I know how tricky it is to get a fire going when it's wet outside... ;) God bless and keep on brickin'! ~Promar~
Thanks! |

Awesome build! I think I've read that story, it is quite sad indeed! Creative choice and means of meeting the category!
Thanks! |

I can't deny it, it's a truly excellent build, but I feel it's more landscaping than actual fire. My vote goes to your opponent. Sorry :(
:/ Thanks anyway. |

This is NOT an Agni Kai. Why do you do this to me? I only asked for it with 11 hours left before the deadline. Was that too little time? So this is something I wasn't expecting. It's a simple (lol no it's not) little (nor is it that small either) scene with the most minimal addition of the most essential part, and yet, you are getting my vote for a very successful build and concept. You have my vote against one of the early heavy hitters, nicely done!
Thanks for the vote! |

That's a sad story :'( I guess the real world is sad. I like your rock-work and the tree (even though it is not white it fits in the seen quite nicely). Best of all, it was a total surprise for this category. Well done!
It was a sad story. The man had so many misfortunes. When it seemed like he would succeed, something bad would happen. Thanks! |
